Shankar Jaikishan were already on the way down. They had odd hits now and then but their style was still stuck in the past. Jaikishan became a raging alcoholic. Sharda had a well rounded voice which is not suited for bollywood playback singing for Women. Bollywood always preferred extremely high pitch voices which Lata had.

I' m very proud l've met Shardaji in 2010 during live shows in my country Suriname ( with Ashok Khare)... bahut baatein maine kiya hai Shardaji se, sawaale bhi kiya purani gaane ki baare mein jaise Street Singer, Gumnaam ki etc...since my childhood she was one of my fav. female singers, specially "titli udi" made me crazy even l was then 2 or 3 years...May God bless her with a very long long healthy life...

I donot think she was popular with people. Her carrier was very too short. Only Shankar (of S.J.) used to promote her. There were greatest female singers, Lata, Asha, Suman Kalyanpur, during that time n it was difficult for her to survive. Even Raj kapoor cut her songs from his movie since these were not impressive.
