Dealing With A Jealous Mother In-Law

Although I don’t like her behavior towards me, I am respectful and kind to her anyway. It’s just that I see because it’s so obvious that she is very insecure and has issues which have absolutely nothing to do with me. So I don’t take it personal for the most part 🤔

What it means (if her partner is present) that they made a choice to use their child as a replacement partner, instead of their actual partner. I did all these things..I'm her son's friend..but the kids they're the grandkids she knows nothing about, but acts like she does.

today I decided to call it quits after 2 years . She said no no one will love my son like I do . She says no woman can give him what I can !!! Ewwww her mother was the same with her . My name wasn’t even allowed to be mentioned in her home . We would whisper so she wouldn’t suspect him and I are talking . Did I mention he’s 33?!

Honestly same, and even though she knows about us, we have to keep it very low key. He can’t bring up about me with his mom or dad. We had to video call secretly and he can’t talk bc he doesn’t want her to know we’re calling.

My mil is so jealous it actually hurts. She went as far as claiming who I am and asking to try on wedding dresses at my fitting.

This all depends tho if they are a narcissist they want control they dont care. They are jealous becuz they are not the center anymore. The health mother in laws ive met were not that way at all.

100%. We did marriage counseling nearly 2 years. Sometimes we had homework after a session, to address MIL. Explain that her behavior is hurtful to us and relationship w her- she literally would argue that "it's not, I'm not doing nothing wrong". My husband would tell her how he felt and she would respond to me by name. Delusional.

What if she treats me as irrelevant? I tried having a conversation with her, I’ve tried to empathize… she crossed a boundary with me and she made it very clear she doesn’t care about what I say. She comes off as “humble” and “down to earth”, but she’s very pessimistic and gives me “advice” all the time, which I always passed off as her just meaning well.. She’s very domineering and authoritative, and thinks whatever she says and thinks is above all else. I feel tricked and gaslit because in the beginning, I felt like I was accepted… We weren’t very close to begin with, but we were cordial. After me and my husband married, I feel as though I am in a cult. How she really felt about me came out, but those red flags that I missed are my fault too… My husband is very aware about how his mother is and he doesn’t have a very good relationship with her either. He’s always extending and reaching out but it always felt like she only just “tolerated” him sometimes. I felt only tolerated at times too. it’s a very confusing dynamic. & It’s heartbreaking.

Man I dealt with this shit for two years didn’t know I was dating a fucking narcissist. The fucking whole family knew about his escapade and extra baby mamas in different states and two years Covid. He was fucking around with me with some bitch. I’m good with it now I’m good with it. I am cool with the game, but at the same time she knew she was so supposed to be you know the preacher chick you know that one that partthank you my brother thank you for sharing. I see this happen a lot. Especially with mothers and sons. The mother hates the girlfriend, treats her like shit, and is jealous her son has another women in his life. I think this is selfish of mothers. Of course you would always love your mum, and care for her. However as your kids get older they start their own life. As a mother it's not a competition. You should be happy your child's found somebody right for them. I would get if your child's being treated bad that's understandable however if its a good girl, let them be together. When your a mother you should not be competing, you should just love your child and be happy that their happy.
