SharePoint List Cross Site Collection Lookup using PowerApps

In this demo I will be customising the SharePoint List form using PowerApps. I will retrieve lookup dropdown values from a SharePoint list, hosted on a different site collection and will also display related columns from same list using PowerApps Lookup function.

Thank you so much for making this video! I was able to perform a successful lookup on our Project List. I can't thank you enough! The only twist I added to the end was to write the values of the labels back to my SharePoint list. I learned that piece from DeShon Clark's KZbin video entitled "2020TIPS: 3 of 5 | My Cascading Drop-Down Trick for PowerApps Forms Tutorial 2020" in case you or anyone is interested in checking it out. Even though he shows how to do it with a dropdown control, it works just as good for labels. One other thing, I added a 2 border to the labels to make them look like regular fields in my form. Thanks for an excellent tutorial. I have implemented a lookup dropdown for a document library and it works for the properties->edit all form. My question is, how can I get it to work for the grid view?

Firstly thank you for great tutorial. Secondly, when you edit the SP list and save it again the tutor field resets to default value. I have been trying for hours to solve this issue and still not working. For the first time you can select from dropdown and save but if you try to edit other columns or just simply click edit and save it again, the tutor field resets to default no matter what. Any help?

In the PowerApp form, you will need to pull the default value from current item and assign it to the powerapp field.

Good one! I have a doubt. Lets say I would like remove/assign "NULL" to the Duration lookup column for the Title: "Sharepoint List Training". How can be this possible from powerapp? Thanks.

So you can not see the lookup value? Do you have permissions to the lookup list?

Hello! I am looking to use a similar method to auto populate a field within a SharePoint list. I'm making a tracker with the purpose of keeping tabs on people who register for training. The goal is to make a field auto-populate with the names of the classes that the student has taken in the previous fiscal year. Is there a way to automate this?

You can retrieve any related columns from the lookup list. So, if you have a list which captures records of all the student classes, you can easily retrieve this information in PowerApps form via lookup.

Please help. I have a lookup column in SharePoint library that is linked to another list in the same SharePoint site. But now I want to link that lookup column to another list in the same site. How can I change the connection? I went to site settings and saw that column but I can't change the list to which it is connected. Please help

You will need to create a new column and point it to the new lookup list I am afraid. Try PowerShell to see if the exiting column lookup list can be changed, I doubt it.
