THE most under rated singer/songwriter of our generation. I've see her many, many times since I first saw her in the "Soft Rock Cafe" in Vancouver in the early '80's. I saw her a few weeks ago in Nanaimo, BC and she is still getting better with every performance. If you hear she is performing near you.....GO SEE HER!

I heard Valdy and the Hometown Band perform in a small venue at Mercer University, Macon Georgia in 1976. Valdy wore a shirt that stated "Disco Sucks". I was a freshman and a guitar player. The performance shaped my musical trajectory--to see such skill and talent, and hear songs with meaning. Much gratitude!
@RobertBenning13 жыл бұрын
When Valdy toured with the Hometown Band and came through North Battleford, I was asked to help load their gear into our school auditorium and got to watch Shari and the entire band from the wings. It was my first concert at 15 years old! I had the pleasure of receiving her beautiful smile and a thank you as they walked off stage after the show and I'll never be able to thank you enough in return for that night! A timeless voice and song, truly inspiring.

This song is one of three or four tunes that immediately transport me back to my childhood growing up in Edmonton...And interestingly, all are by Canadian bands: Wildflower by Skylark, Sweet City Woman by The Stampeders, and The Dream Never Dies by The Cooper Brothers...all classics. But none of them can hold a candle to this one...It is as good now as it was the first time I heard it!!!

I was a DJ and Station Manager at Radio McGill in Montreal in 1977-1978. I insisted on playing this simply spectacular demonstration of musicality and vocal prowess in every show I did. I was always astonished by Shari's vocal power and control - and have gone to great pains over the years to collect numerous pristine LP's of the Hometown Band album of the same name. Of course, now with Spotify, it's joyous to add it to playlists -- but seeing the video, of the period, transports me effortlessly back to a time I am so nostalgic about. I was proud to play this song, and most appreciative of this video!
