Can we synchronize our heartbeats in immersive space - and if so, how does it affect our perception of one another? The Ars Electronica Futurelab's application Deep Sync creates an interactive playground to find out!
In the Ars Electronica Center's immersive experience space Deep Space 8K, also developed by the Ars Electronica Futurelab, visitors are invited to wear their hearts on their sleeves: Custom wearables make each volunteer's heartbeat audible and visible, sharing the experience with the group. Visitors can play around with different modes to look for behavioral and physiological changes, trying to synchronize with each other.
Deep Sync is one of two winning projects of the Ars Electronica Futurelab's internal competition Ideas Expedition. The project aims to open the new, patented wearables as infrastructure for broad use in Deep Space 8K and similar project spaces worldwide.
