I think a healthy balance is best. Don't deprive yourself of little things that give you joy and sustain you. But don't go overboard and left with no savings. Most important of all, take care of one's health - physical and emotional with proper nourishment/diet and good friends/family and spirituality.

If you have limited funds, consider purchasing a cooperative (coop) or a condominium. Alternatively, if you have more resources, investing in a house is also a viable option. Having fewer belongings can lead to a more comfortable lifestyle. It's worth mentioning that individuals who are able to buy a house typically exhibit good financial discipline and may not need to send money overseas. Therefore, it's not fair to compare ourselves to them. Ultimately, my focus is on attaining a satisfying life rather than one solely driven by success.

Hi Kunsang Dolma la, I follow both you and Abu Karma for quite some time. You share your personal problems as well as good times. Most youtubers just show their good and fun times going around and shopping which I am not interested in. I can empathize with you with your past financial mistakes because I did the same and you are right you are late but not too late. You still have time. If your employer offers retirement plan( 401 K, 403 B etc.), I would highly recommend you to participate in it and get their matching contributions if they offer. If you still have money left , open a Roth IRA and invest in it. Do not put too much in saving/checking account as they do not give much interest, just put enough to pay your 6 months of expense. If you have any questions, I am more than willing to help. Love you and abu Karma's vlog.

These are sound financial management advices. Thanks for sharing. I consider myself financially well-educated and follow exactly these methods. If I may add one thing, in the west, it’s so easy buy beyond your means, so not getting sucked into these temptations is necessary. People living in million dollar houses doesn’t mean they actually have that much money. It’s just greed and show off, which ultimately hurts that person’s personal finance, so what’s the point of showing off when it will end up hurting yourself? So, live within your means is key for your mental and financial wellbeing. Live for yourself, not for others.
