Being nervous and shaky is what makes me play at the top of my game. It means that you give a damn and it triggers a flight or fight response. Focus increases tremendously! The mistake happens when you allow fear of the results to be mixed into the equation.

I’ve been watching you for a couple of years. I started watching when I was living in the US, but now I watch you from the Philippines. It was a real treat to see you play in a tournament. One of the items I took away from listening to you, is the person who makes the fewest self induced errors is more likely to win. When I was in college in the 1970’s Willie Mosconi came to give us a demonstration in the Student Union Building. We all played 14.1 straight pool at the time, so watching Mosconi turned into a real treat. I was mesmerized by one of his 14.1 break shots, which you covered very quickly in one of your videos. I have never been able to recreate the shot: Willie shot the object ball into the corner while the cue ball jumped off the object ball into the middle of the rack. Of course the rack just exploded with the cue ball sitting in the middle of an open table. I would love to see a longer video with just this shot as the object of the video. It would be nice to see all the mechanics of the shot, how to aim the cue ball so you get right elevation, how to aim to make the object ball, and importantly how to be consistent in making the shot with different angles, shot length, etc. Could it also show some slow motion of the stroke, angle of hitting the cue ball, and the ball landing in the middle of the rack?

If pool is to ever break mainstream, it will be alternate break. Imagine if pro soccer or basketball was point winner retains possession.

Alternate break is stupid it doesn't truly show who's the best winner breaks does

Respectfully disagree, winner break with tight pockets and tough breaking rules is my favorite (winner break)
@ktosdad Жыл бұрын
That’s what makes pool unique, being able to run multiple racks to keep the opponent in their chair. Each shot is much more important because any shot could be your last one.
@AIMUDIE Жыл бұрын
@@ktosdad i strongly agree another thing about pool is even the best players in the world have off days where they miss shots they normally wouldn’t miss and it also seems like you never stop learning some new shot or leave no matter how old you get you can always improve until you get to that age where ur eye sight starts to take away ur shooting ability

When we use feet (stupid Americans) we say 6 feet 3 inches, or however many inches. Or just say I'm six three. We never use a decimal like 6.3 feet. For some reason we use millimeters for the tip size, and ounces and inches for the rest of a pool cue. When I lived overseas I had to get used to the metric system and eventually could convert it in my head.
@casmartin790 Жыл бұрын
To add to my friend's comment about how we say things, when we talk about routine/everyday things or things that are generally true, we just use the verb without 'ing', for example "I 'have' a pool table behind me", "I 'play' pool and football with my left hand, and I 'write' with my left hand, too" . I learn a lot from you and as a teacher myself, this is the least I could do for you 👍🏾

I live in Germany but absolutely hate the insane German pool rules played in our local pubs. Black in opposite bag is bad enough, but having to hit up the table from a foul and no free ball if your opponent fouls is just verrükt!
@casmartin790 Жыл бұрын
Rules in Spain are similar with regards to the black in opposite pocket which is super annoying and just makes the game unnecessarily long and complicated. What I don't quite understand about German rules is what you mean by hit up the table from a foul? What does that entail?
@salsabil44 Жыл бұрын
@@casmartin790 If I´m on the black and it´s hanging over one of the bottom pockets, and my opponent fouls, I must shoot up the table, giving me a disadvantage.
@GarethRiffStevens Жыл бұрын
@@casmartin790I think it means, you must strike the white from the top of the table towards the black spot when the white ball fouls into the pocket. If your last colour ball is at the top of the table behind the line, you must pot it towards the middle pockets or the bottom pockets, or bank from behind the ball to a top pocket.

Sharivari!!!! LOL. Come on now. You are easily talented enough to play at a high level in many tough tournaments. EASILY. No, I am not saying you are as good as Filler, SVB, FSR, guys like that - but you are a very good player and could easily get better by playing in more tournaments. I truly believe that you use the "lack of money and time" thing as an excuse. You seem to lack confidence in your game. The ONLY way to get over that is to play in tournaments, do well (which I think you would), and gain that confidence. Stop it with the excuses.
@williamsheppard8738 Жыл бұрын
So I am more than halfway through your match and the biggest thing I see that you do wrong you think too much if I had as much knowledge as you when it comes to knowing where the cue ball is going there's no way I'm thinking that much because I don't have to already know that is the biggest thing I know you are doing wrong and the biggest key to getting out and making shots that are difficult is confidence in yourself which for some reason you seem to be lacking in this tournament
@Sharivari Жыл бұрын
That is very well spotted. My biggest weakness is the lack of experience in competition. Sometimes I break out of this and just play the way I can play. But then there are those big tournaments, where I slow everything down because of my nerves, or maybe just because it's a big tournament. Unfortunately, the only way to work on that is to play more of those big matches and tournaments. But I don't have the time and money to travel around the world to play pool. It's a pitty.
@williamsheppard8738 Жыл бұрын
@@Sharivari here is a suggestion for you the next time you were in a big tournament and you have to walk yourself through a shot just pretend like you're making one of your how to KZbin videos you will forget about the moment and you will just execute the shot think about something that has nothing to do what you're doing right then didn't visualize the shot you want to make and do it I guarantee you you will start playing better I know this because this is what I started doing it works great you have to see it before it happens because if you can't see it it's not going to happen

@@Sharivari well it's because it puts you in a familiar situation that you're caught for with it's all about being comfortable in your own skin confidence is the key and you will be confident when you know for a fact what you were doing and you don't second-guess yourself because you really don't have to just to let you know you're one of my favorite influencers also you help me change my game my only problem was moving the cue ball around the table sometimes because I really didn't miss that much I need your skills drill and I scored a 98 and I have it on video on my channel
