I'll show you a common mistake for balls that are hanging in the pocket and how to judge if you can pot it without hitting the point of the pocket.

The verbal explanations are excellent. This is the first person I've listen to on Pool lessons that does what I do in my seminars: Explains all the options and whet can goes right as well as wrong with each approach. When coupled with the Diagrams, on the far right, of the three (3) hit positions on the cue ball Sharivari has provided one of the best lesson guides I've seen. Well done!

As a snooker player I have the accuracy to screw back. But he is right. Always look for the easiest way to play a shot. The less distance the white travels and the less cusions as possible. This increases accuracy and reduces in offs.

I really enjoyed the video. All excellent points when considering a ball this deep in the pocket! I'm a big fan of rail 1st if the ball is out far enough. Naturally, the location in terms of depth in the pocket is ultimately going to determine how you strike the cue ball in this situation.

This is a pretty interesting analysis of shot decisions. I agree that hanging balls are some of the trickiest to play position from. I don't completely agree with your assessment, though - personally I would always prefer the cut with side spin off one rail. I feel like there's more margin for error, both in how thin you cut the ball and how much spin you put.

I've always shot it that way, with one slight adjustment, I usually aim it to hit past the side pocket, which I feel gives me more margin of error on the speed.

Another easy way, hit cushion left of the ball with a little right, then cuts the 3 in and hits cushion on the right side of the 3 and toward the rail above the corner pocket (not short-sided).

Thanks Sharivari for some great explanations and problem solving videos :) Tangent line is really important than most players think and they don't understand the spin you put on the cue ball depending on speed the cue ball is hit at what point off the tangent line the spin takes effect :) also the weigh of the cue ball verses the object ball is another factor. Players think I am anal when I weight the cue ball against the weight of the object ball which is very important unless you play awhile with both... Also the type of cue ball you use is also a factor just like the cloth and temperature of the room and humidity effects speed and English on the cue ball that is what makes this game interesting and more difficult for new players there is always something to learn... Ever the Master Shane is looking to learn more his game is always evolving :)

Put this ball all the way in a Diamond 4 1/2" pocket but to one side of a jaw. Then with the cue ball 10 feet away, with an angle that takes the cue ball towards the more open side of a pocket. Finally your cue ball is frozen to the rail.

@darinruddock3394
@darinruddock3394 4 жыл бұрын
The tangent line you have drawn is the 90 degree tangent for a straight in shot, but you advise to “cut” the object ball to the right. If you cut the ball to the right (which is correct to keep energy in the cue ball) the tangent line will be 90 degrees to the cut shot, therefore right at the corner of the cushion. You are using a great graphic to teach the concept, but the graphic is incorrect for the shot as it should be played, a cut to the right. A straight in shot, of course, would leave the cue near the object ball with no energy left to use the rail and return down table. I know you already know this part, but the graphic (tangent line) is representative of a straight in contact with the object ball.
@Sharivari
@Sharivari 4 жыл бұрын
You mean the last part of the video with the close up view? No that's not the tangent line for a straight in shot. Remember where the cue ball was? And then see in which part of the pocket the 3 is going. It's heading towards the right part. If the line would go into the center of the pocket, then it would have been a straight shot.

You can adjust the angle that the cueball travels easily by hitting a little thicker / thinner or adding just a little spin. So if there is a gap for the cueball from the corner to the head area - yes it works. Otherwise you have to choose one of the previous ways.

Like the last shot that I was showing in the video, the 3 Ball is hit on the left side to get position. But the tangent line will never change, no matter from what angle you are hitting the 3 Ball. I already made a video about that topic.
@Col_MULLY
@Col_MULLY 5 жыл бұрын
No matter how you play this there is no "correct" way, a corner pocket scratch is always a possibility no matter which way you go. He failed to point out that hitting that shot the way he advised, if you hit that 3 just a touch to thick, that top spin is going to hold you there on that bottom rail. Too thin and you hit the tit and then it's time to pray because you have no idea what the ball will do. An A class player can judge the speed enough to play the rails. I personally like top left and going 3 rails around. The short side doesn't bother me, it's not that short.
@wesleysandifer6157
@wesleysandifer6157 5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes you can't do it this way on a diamond pool table. The ball can sit beyond the tits in the pocket. It can sit so far in the hole you can't come off the rail either. Your just going to haft to hit good is all I'm going to tell you.
