I’ve used a variety of vacuum products over the years and have discovered that Shark products consistently build a better product. They are also a better value. Nice touch that your shoes match your flooring. Keep up the good work.

Love the Shark! We have European white oak wood floors and the others used too much water or left a lot of little water spots or drops around and streaks and worried me about harming the floors. We also have a professional gym flooring that is puzzled together so water seeping through would be bad. Only con - the water reservoir is too small. Had to refill it more than I thought. Love the way it swivels around too. I prefer less of all that high tech stuff. Love the simplicity of the Shark. The roller brush is also far more substantial. The shark gets the dust so well at the trim!!

You were able to buy this in Europe? Where? I've been looking for one but could not find it anywhere. I'm especially interested in the corded version, but it has to be 230-240V AC. The US one is 120V.

Do you know if it picks up pet hair ok? We have one dog, one cat so nothing crazy and we have robot vac too in case it doesn't. I'm trying to decide between the Tineco S3 and the Hydrovac. And soooo on the fence other than with the price!

What’s it like for picking up big bits? Such as cereal/little beads? Also… Do you know if it’s possible to use your favourite general store brought disinfectant or does it have to be their own?
@ComputerStuff
@ComputerStuff 8 ай бұрын
You can use your own - they claim you can't but you can. It does decent for big bits but you may need to pass over them a few times.

Thanks for your review. I recently retired and moved to a new area and had to give up my wonderful cleaning professional. We built a house with all tile and high quality vinyl plank flooring. I haven't had to mop my floors in awhile, but in my experience, I never felt that the floors were truly clean with a regular mop, even rinsing the pad often. If I spilled something on the floor and used a paper towel to wipe it up, the towel was always dirty even right after mopping. Cleaning videos that I watch suggest that the floor isn't getting clean because the mop water isn't clean enough, and you are constantly mopping with tainted water. I purchased the Shark HydroVac thinking that the dirty water would be changed out often enough that my floor would be cleaner. Is it your opinion that this gets the floor cleaner than a regular mop?
@ComputerStuff
@ComputerStuff Жыл бұрын
I would say this does a better job than a regular mop - it's true a lot of these units push around dirty water. The biggest offenders are the Mach v1 (which I LOVED at first) and the Bissel. But this shark does an all around decent job especially for the price.

I dont see a problem with it. Shark will tell you not to, but a bit of vinegar is generally benign.

I picked up a HydroVac for while I'm dogsitting for friends and have my own pup at their place that is 100% hard floors. I would argue that at over 2ksf of hard floor this thing has been a life saver for not having to sweep, vacuum and then mop... especially when the knuckleheads drag in mud and dirt... I've had to mop pretty much daily, so you do the math for justifying the category; Granted, it's not the whole house each day but still. An argument for the corded model, is you save an extra 100 bucks and can just go from room to room, without running out of battery. The whole cordless thing is such a gimmick to take extra cash from people for not being limited by a cord... when unless there are swappable batteries, are just going to extend the job for larger homes.

Thanks for your video. Do you think the brush material of the HydroVac is a bit too thin which is not as absorbent, and may not clean as effectively, as the more fluffy material usually used in other vacmops?
@ComputerStuff
@ComputerStuff Жыл бұрын
Great question and great point. I did not find that to be the case in practical usage. I think the absorbency shouldn't matter too much in any vacmop that effectively cleans the brush roller as it "vacs" the dirty water. I find the suction to be slightly better on the HydroVac than on the HydroVac but it struggled just as bad as the S5 and S7 in harder to clean messes. The S5 Pro Steam (and Mach v1 Ultra) with their steam options did a better job at "deep cleaning".
@yanso5271
@yanso5271 Жыл бұрын
@@ComputerStuff Thanks for your reply. I agree that steam is a good, if not the best, way for deep cleaning. Unfortunately, I have engineered hardwood plank flooring and have been advised not to use wet or steam mop because over time the heat and moisture will damage the floor. I also have a lot of area rugs. I am now looking for an electric floor cleaner which dispenses water or cleaning solution to the mop brush and not spraying liquid directly onto the floor. Usually I would vacuum before I do the cleaning, and I don’t have huge messes like those shown in product reviews or TV commercials. Do you have any suggestion for my need?
@ComputerStuff
@ComputerStuff Жыл бұрын
@@yanso5271 Hmm. Tough call. If you don't have huge messes you may be better off with something simple like a Bona mop: fave.co/3TiYyt1 For what it's worth, I have traditional hardwood at my house, and engineered LVP at my office. I have used Steam COUNTLESS times without any problem. The area rugs do become a nuisance with some of these vacmops although for what it's worth the Mach v1, Shark, and Tineco all had some form of success on area rugs - didn't tangle them up or get nasty.

So glad you brought this up! A: Sorry you're having that issue, but B: I had the same problem in our test unit after a couple of months. Their customer service number is: 855-427-5127. (I think, but you should double check on their website). Call them up, they'll ask for serial number and a couple other things. And they'll send you a replacement. Now, they'll ask you "There is a $25 shipping fee associated with the new unit, is that OK?" Tell them "No, it's a brand new unit and I shouldn't have to pay for shipping." They'll then wave the shipping fee as a courtesy, send you a new unit, and you can even keep the old one. Not sure why this is happening on some unit but Shark's CS is pretty solid and they appear to be fixed in later revisions, but time will tell.

After using it and turning it off, there often is a bit of water left underneath that seems kind of dirty and it also drips a bit on the way back to the base. Is this normal? It doesn't leak otherwise and there is no dripping before use with tanks full.

@a4andrei
@a4andrei Жыл бұрын
Exactly my thoughts, batteries are their biggest weakness, and a lot of these machines don't even have removable batteries. It's going to work ok for 2-3 years (maybe), but after that, it's anybody's guess, and the warranty will be long over. Considering that these are not exactly cheap, having to change the battery or replace the entire unit in a few years, is just not economical or practical.

Interesting. I've not experienced or had anyone else complain about that. That said Shark's customer service is pretty spot on, you may want to call them and likely they'll replace the roller or the unit. And youre sure your "clicking" down the roller when you install it and the cover plate?
