Shark Matrix Robot Vacuum Why The Changes?

I got the Shark Matrix and i love it. That knocking sound was definitely stressing me out until I saw your video and in comments on Reddit about it being normal but honestly mine hardly makes that sound. But like you I'm equally irritated with the fact that the filter is a permanent part of the dustbin. Such a poor design choice. Aside from that it works amazingly well, I have a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old and they are pretty messy and it keeps the floor spotless.

Just got one and came from a Neato D3. Things I don't like about this bot are it mapped my whole house but it seems to miss one area that is definitely included on the map. Also my house is a little larger when I tell it to clean the whole house it doesn't finish the house in one cycle. It is pretty loud. Also I don't like that I can't draw no-go lines wherever I want. It makes you draw everything with boxes when setting up the map so it makes it difficult to shape your rooms or exclude areas that you don't want it to go. Cleans pretty well if you tell it to do a few rooms at a time and take the time to sit in the map and meticulously set it up. I feel like this one cleans better than my Neato did but the app is very disappointing.

I totally agree with you. It is good, but you would think it would be better than the old one and its not. I might have to buy the old one again. I would recommend ppl to just buy the older version. Cheaper and better.

Just got one from Costco. The Marix has a loud knocking sound thay my old shark doesnt have that sound.

yep mine had it too, they say that is normal, but I don't like it. they should be made better than that.

The none removable filter won't last. I wonder how we can replace it if it is damaged. It looks like it has the same size as the orange removable filter. .

The issue is the belt on the inside of the unit. Shark/ninja used a belt that is slightly too large and that clicking sound is made when the gears on the brush motor are skipping teeth. The issue with the Matrix version of this vacuum is that the LIDAR cover is nearly impossible to remove without breaking anything to get to that motor. Repairing this robot is nigh impossible when something internal like that belt breaks

Good video. Thanks. I was wondering the same thing about the filter! Bad design. I have an older iRobot and it cleans MUCH better. But my iRobot doesn’t have the mapping function which is why got the Shark. If I could I’d return it and get an iRobot but I cannot.

Has anybody had an issue on the matrix going under the couches? Mine has a bit of clearance but for some reason it’s not going under the couch

I want to know if it will be able to avoid my dog laying on the floor. I try not to annoy him, he's old. 😆

Update: if he is laying down, it doesn't detect him. If he is standing, it does avoid him. I try to run the vac in the rooms he is not in to avoid it bumping him.

Ok so this model of shark is one to avoid. I Have a UR250BEXUS. Has the removable filter and the side filter is a hepa filter - not foam. No clicking noise. My dog does not poop in my/his house. Biggest problem is the shark pushing the dog bowls under the couch. Most needed improvement is an automatic filter/canister cleaning station
