Kind sir, thank you for saving my Shark. I had done all the steps, new filters, cleaned brush roll, etc. Had it squeaky clean and yet it had no suction. Because of you I checked the hose! It was incredibly clogged, i pulled out all the packed junk with a 12 inch wire w/tiny hook on the tip (made it myself with dental tools from the 70s). So much stuff came out!. Once battery went through the hose, and I assembled machine back, it worked like it was brand new! No damage caused to the hose because my wire rig was tiny and I was gentle.

Thank you good sir! You just solved our loss of suction issue. Roller wheel was extremely clogged with dog hair and carpet freshener powder was built up in hoses. Everything was cleaned and unclogged and yet there was no suction. I pulled up your video and you showed the motor exhaust filter --- the exhaust filter was totally clogged with carpet freshener and didn't suck - feared the motor was blown😦. Banged the filter semi clean and Voila! DO NOT USE POWDERED CARPET FRESHENER in these vacuums! Thank you so much for showing ALL the nooks and crannies on this vacuum!

I have had the rotator for years and only washed out the round foam filter. The flat round filter that’s below it I never touched thinking that it couldn’t be washed. Always wanted to get to the exhaust filter but never knew how to take it off. Just kept putting it off. It’s just a vacuum. I will get around to it I kept telling myself over the years. Only lost suction one time years ago. Trash was caught in the flex hose. Easy fix. I finally bought the flat round and exhaust filter online and needed to know how to get the exhaust cover off. Which brought me to his video. My luck the first video I click and wow. Thank you very much for the very thorough explanation and cleaning process. I feel like the engineers have thought of everything and I’ve made a great purchase now.

This gentleman explained each aspect of what to clean and how in an understandable manner. The visual details he provided were exceptional. Two things he mentioned made an impact on me. The first being the use of antibacterial wipes and where. Thinking of using them was too much like right. 🙄 The second thing he mentioned, and emphasized, made me gasp. I had no idea there were electrical wires in the long hose. I have the Shark Powered Lift-Away with the Anti-Allergen Seal, and my task for today was to perform an interior deep clean. The items I intended to use were close to items he stated should never be used. We’ll consider those “the things we do not mention.” Excellent, informative, and vacuum saving presentation. Thank you. Shark should have his presentation their website under the maintenance menu website, on how to clean your Shark Vacuum. But that would also fall under “too much like right.” It’s apart of how they make money. Ooh, did I thank this gentleman? Thank You!

A trick for cleaning the hose and wand after separating them is to get a piece of small rope longer than those, and tie it to a cleaning rag. Dampen the rag with a bit of a mild multi-purpose cleaner or slightly soapy water. Then run the rope through to the other end, and wad up the rag a bit as you stuff it in the hose or tube. Should be some friction, but not to the point where it's difficult to pull through. Thus you can get the insides of those pretty clean with a few passes pulling the rag all the way through like that if there was anything sticking on there. Also make sure things are thoroughly dry before using it again. Different than dealing with big clogs, but will deal with any moldy/musty smells still coming from the vac if the lower parts have already been cleaned. Also if plastics on floor attachments or wheel rubber gets dirty with anything sticky, a cloth sprayed with foaming tub/shower cleaner will do a bang-up job on them. Let it dampen those spots for a bit, and it should wipe off real easy a few minutes later. A lot of modern showers have a molded plastic liner, so that cleaner tends to be safe on plastics even though it's strong at breaking up dirt and gummy stuff. You may want to wear gloves for that though.

Thank you 👍🏻. This is the first video I've watched on the subject having gone through all the filters already. So it's good to know that I found all the filters just through going over the machine and there's a few other bits I found that made it easier to get to the hoses. The part where you said drop a big battery through the hose was fantastic advice, something I hadn't thought of. And promptly I found out where the blockage was! I put a 3.7 volt 3000mah battery through and it promptly got stuck, So using the old windmill technique it helps to dislodge the blockage and a flat tooth screwdriver. So a massive thank you to you for posting this video, brilliant job, You're a star. ❤

The clog I removed was in the handle. Once I figured out where the clog was I used the six inch brush designed for cleaning the vent duct hose on my dryer. It attaches to a three foot flexible plastic stem that you can screw into another three or four identical plastic stems for removing clogs fifteen feet up the duct hose. One was plenty for clearing the vacuum handle, but you do have to twist it two or three times to clear the handle clog.

It’s amazing how much a new filter can improve a 3 year old machine. Got this shark pet version given to us from my sister in law. It BARELY had any pull at all. Wouldn’t pick up anything from hard floors at all unless using the hose. Even then, most of it (stuff like little kitty litter rocks) just fell right back out of the hose. This thing runs like a brand new machine now. So much hair and junk getting pulled into the tank now after all 3 filters replaced.

Thanks for the video. I regularly clean the two pre-motor filters, and was wondering if there was another I wasn't aware of. Sure enough, there was. But sadly, while finding that filter, I discovered that the small internal hose is split. I'll email Shark, but my machine is 10-11 years old, so I'm not hopeful. Thank you so much for this video! My vacuum lost suction, and I couldn’t find where was the clog. Your video shows how to open each part helped me determine the clog. I took advantage and cleaned the filters also. As you said, the exhaust filter had a lot of black stuff but only on the back side, and I could not get it white even running through a lot of water. A very professional instruction video! Thank you! I have the True Pet version and the cut out mechanism that operates when you get something tangled round the brush roll went wrong and stopped it every time I tried to vacuum. The nice American lady at Shark said I needed a new floor nozzle but they didn’t have any in stock at that time, so they sent me a whole brand new cleaner! I just had to pay £10 carriage to send the old one back to them. I think I phoned them on the Friday and got my new cleaner on the Monday. Terrific customer service!
@hard2bear31105 жыл бұрын
How is that good service? You payed an extra £10 for something that should have been covered under warranty? Okay you got a brand new cleaner but you shouldn't have had to pay anything. Frustrates me with these companies
@audreyfforbes-hamilton5 жыл бұрын
Well, the old cleaner was about 3 years old and I was happy to get a brand new one for £10. The new one also seems to be more powerful than the old one, I find I have to employ the suction control relief on some of my carpets whereas I never did with the old one. Also I have another 4 years guarantee so overall I think it was good value. I didn’t have to accept the new cleaner, I could have waited for a new nozzle to come back into stock but I wanted the new vacuum!

So glad I’ve been doing all the right things! Probably why it’s been great for 6 years up to now. Does the brush have a belt that turns it? Mine is not turning and I thought I’d ask before I tore it apart. It works so much better with the brush, I can’t hardly push it without the rotator working. It also doesn’t pick up much on my thick carpet with out it. I’m using my Shark Stick until I find an answer.

I would also say they have made this vacuum harder to service. They have changed all the fasteners to T20, wires within the head are now passed through plastic before attached. Many don't realise that there is a motor in the head that powers the brush to turn. The lower hose is now one piece and not screwed in on opposite lock. Also some of the parts inside are very easily broken, esp the mech that allows it to stand upright. Trust me I have tore down this machine to its bare components. Think I may have to buy a new one as mines has a noise from the air release vent which I have also taken out and checked.
