ABC Television Shark Tank Hosts/Entrepreneurs Daymond John & Mark Cuban visited Babson College Tuesday, November 29th.
The entrepreneurs held a Meet The Sharks event with Babson student businesses True Intentions and Spy Games as well as participated in a Q&A with the student audience.
Daymond John is the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Babson College 2011-2012. Daymond's creative vision helped revolutionize the sportswear industry in the 1990s. As founder, president and chief executive officer of FUBU-"For Us, By Us"-Daymond created distinctive and fashionable sportswear and a host of other related gear. FUBU's phenomenal success made mainstream apparel companies realize the potential for fashionable sportswear that appeals not just to trendsetting urban youth, but to mainstream teens as well. abc.go.com/shows/shark-tank/bi...
Mark Cuban is the highly successful entrepreneur and investor who founded HDNet, Broadcast.com and MicroSolutions. He has also been an investor in startups, including Mahalo, JungleCents.com, motionloft.com, Filesanywhere.com, Naked Pizza and 140Fire.com. Mark may be best known for his purchase of the Dallas Mavericks on January 4, 2000. Under his leadership, the team's home games have become a total entertainment experience. Despite initial criticism, he added much more to the usual game-day experience by introducing original video content, advanced technology and unique entertainment options like the Mavericks ManiAACs. His successful efforts have brought a sense of pride and passion to the fans. abc.go.com/shows/shark-tank/bi...

This was in 2011. It's interesting that in 2012 Tinder and Ingress (better implemented versions of both of these idea) came out.

I'd suggest a dvd program for home school parents. Instead of a generic program, it would be mini lessons (say for example 8th grade math). With 10 dvd's , students could learn every concept the regular class room students would learn. They just wouldn't get "filler" that happens in the classroom. Also, the lessons would be in mp4 format so they could be put onto their tablet pcs, or put onto USB flash drives, so they could watch them on large HDTV's that many have now days.

I thought it sad that the first presenter had two professors as the main advisers. That is almost a guarantee of failure as most professors are theory orientated. The sharks are private sector real world businessmen who are not theory orientated but have real world experience. Imagine if these two sharks replaced the professors.. the value of this experience is for the students to learn what not to do.

How about a novel idea like a Casino called Smoking Gun Casino. Where in my entreprenuership class we came up with a organizational, marketing and advertising plan for the business and , I believe came up with a great basic business model.

Mark Cuban didnt even grasp the first pitch. there WAS things wrong with it and reasons why it wouldnt work, but Mark was pointing out flaws that werent even there and he was blind to the real problem(s) which is that one can check ALL the intentions and just match with literally everybody and get coffee with this person and hook up with that person. Mark also said its weird to ask for coffee instead of asking someone out...that stuff happens in the real world too you cant escape it. some people are scared to use the word 'date'lol. Mark made a couple good points too but i feel he was being harsh and acting like a know-it-all. peace.

On shark tank, the pitches and info are a lot shorter. With this we have to hear the WHOLE THING OMFG.

I know you posted this comment three years ago, but that isn't true. Most of the pitches on Shark Tank last from 1-2 hours, it is just edited down to about 10 minutes.

What's in the water @Babson?? Instead of creating new ways to implement a bad idea.... you should really exercise your imagination and come up - with new ONES. NOt just an idea but a business... my observation as a pupil investor, is that people are asking problem questions far too often, what does that mean, questions that create more problems and not ones that lead to actual solutions. As my 78 yr old biz partner iterates "#Nothing in life works, unless YOU DO, STAY THE HELL OFF FACEBOOK!!!"

What selection criteria did the administrators of this show follow, in order to select these 2 groups? Their ideas are so naive! Mark must have felt robbed of his time listening to these pitches, lol. Maybe he should have gone to Harvard.
