It is but in the long run they have the patent, and they can license the product out when they become even bigger which I believe it'll happen, and they'll also improve the capability of it. I believe Mark invested more because electric cars are the future, kind of like when the internet first came out, now people can't breathe without it. Everyone is gambling on the future. Finally a good product on Shark tank: (1) unique solution, (2) reoccurring income, (3) patentable, (4) reward winning, (5) growing market (6) re-purposing returning batteries. Although leasing business model is capital intensive. That is why they need money. Normally Shark Tank pitches boring retail (gimmick) products with a lot of marketing.

The goal is always to sell the small company with the technology to the big company. Big company’s would much rather buy a brand rather than invest the money to research something themselves because they get an external( now internal )client base as well

Many big companies such as smartphones companies like Apple, Samsung, etc. They all sell their own charger for their devices. But, still many people across the world buy another charge outside from those companies. So, it doesn't necessarily means they will go out of business right?

I think it’s a great idea with the lease model. They make the money back in a year. They just need more money to scale out bigger. But it also depends on how often cars really run out of battery on the road. Depends how much triple aaa and other towing companies are willing to pay vs just towing the car themselves to an electric charging station. The consumer product is what can bring this company to the moon.

This is actually a smart idea. Maybe. Not for the us market but internationally. Tesla and other electric vehicles are being imported as of this moment to various countries and so far there is only a limited amount of charging areas outside of houses. This could play a major role for those areas/countries.

I like this show, and most of all this episode. Here Mark shared a lot of insight and knowledge from experience. They should cast this show in school, it is easy to follow and not a burden as studying on books is. I also really appreciated Lori here:" i know little to nothing of the topic, i see potential for customers (that is my core strenght), let's see if someone with more experience, knowledge and money can help me (Mark)". Here Mark alone would have called himself out i think. Damn, it is so interesting to understand the mindset of sussessfull entrepeneurs. Thank you for sharing!

Update... As of January 2023, SparkCharge's current worth is estimated at $186 million. One of the reasons that I'm hesitant to buy an electric car is the fear of not finding a place to charge in time while traveling. Clever Idea, not only helping the environment but the manufacturers selling electric vehicles boost sales.

I think creating a portable battery bank that you can put either in the front trunk or in the back trunk of the vehicle would be great. this way no one will be without juice for their vehicle. I'm just surprised that no one has developed a foldable solar panel that you can put on the roof of your vehicle so you're vehicle can charge wirelessly while you're working or at home. Then whenever you're ready to go somewhere you can just fold it and put it in your trunk and go.

I have to think the industry, which has had a decade to observe with the Prius, etc., has had something to do this same task. One software solution is to change the range of the EV. Instead of stating the remaining range, state say 90% with a 10% residual only to be used to get home. The early VW Beetles had this, a secondary fuel tank.

Repurposing battery’s could be a dollar advantage providing a huge revenue stream,or,it could be a huge disadvantage either environmentally or otherwise. Plus as a side note Id like to know how heavy those batts are & what weight the smaller suburban housewife sizes are going to be. Carrying those around in a recovery type vehicle will take up a large space in vehicles that are already short of space meaning more trips back to their warehouses which means more charging etc.
