Neat idea, but these entrepreneurs asked for the wrong investment. The real opportunity here is for a shark (or sharks) to invest in completing the development of the truck/kiosk strategy and then creating a franchising model that could be sold to other frustrated techies who want to work quit working for "the man" and start working for themselves. The back-end money in selling franchises (with royalties and annual renewals), trucks (with financing plans) and kiosks (with software upgrades and PM programs) could be huge - and scalable - making it an attractive opportunity for the right shark. Oh well.

If I were them, I’d have asked for a $200K loan for 10% equity. Get the capital you need, mitigate the risk of being too early, and give the sharks enough skin in the game. The valuation was a bit too high for an unproven concept.
