Pep engine room has always been midfield. During treble year, they had control (Rodri), legs/intensity (Gundo), and creativity (KDB). All at the peak of their powers. Last year, Gundo left but used Alvarez for midfield legs and intensity. Used Foden for creativity with KDB out. Both drop offs but good enough to win the league. This year, no control (no Rodri), no intensity/legs (Old Gundo, Kovacic), minimal creativity (Foden out of form and he’s having to act as the legs also). The City midfield is similar to aging Liverpool midfield a few years back with Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago (but City defense is worse than Liverpool). Midfield has to be completely rebuilt (like Liverpool had to do) by the time Rodri returns
