I'm glad you updated this video for people that didn't know. You don't need a "special" glaze. Mod podge is fine, in fact most any other sealer is fine because usually it's not acetone or alcohol based. Though with a small enough amount you may not noticed your project melting right away, painted or not over time it's very likely to melt. So just pick up a cheap bottle of sealer at your local arts and crafts or even your outdoor/hardware store! Just be sure it's water based first! Happy sculpting! EDIT: If you have to bake polymer clay on a metal sheet, put a piece of parchment paper between the sheet and the clay. It helps keep them from burning, and then you won't have metallic transfer! But yes, it's worth lowering the temperature and then baking longer. Try making little test pebbles to find the right heat and timing for your oven. You can paint them up as rocks later burnt or not ❤

awesome, thank you! I just made some tiny berries and was wishing I had something to glaze them with, I do have mod podge! You saved the day, lol On a side note, you would think the packages the clay comes in would carry a warning. How many people use clear nail polish to add a gloss?? I'm sure many have and many will in the future. I just looked again to be sure and the only warning is not to microwave or overbake.
@rougnashi5 жыл бұрын
@@WhereTheGnomesLive They don't warn you because they're hoping you'll buy they're upcharged sealer to begin with, which is just silly! A lot of people do use nail polish at first, so sincerely thank you for adding the warning. I hate hearing about people's artwork being ruined later. I'm glad my comment was helpful. I just found out they make sparkle mod podge, and I've been trying to come up with something to make with it! I hope your berries turn out great! Keep up the amazing and adorable work! ❤

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this already, when I use polymer clay I will bake them on an old ceramic tile that I found, and I make a tent of aluminium foil over the top. This helps to prevent any burning, as well as stops the fan in my small oven from blowing any tiny bits off the tile. I imagine the tile would have worked very similarly to the glass dish you previously used. I think the metal sheet must conduct the heat more intensely or something.

Try using a base coat and paint with meta.lic watercolor paints. It works if you get the hang of it depending on your clay I don't use a basecoat because the metallic builds. I got a set on wish for 10 dollars!!! Worth. I repaint alot of figurines who's paint job is cheap or deteriorated. Maybe I'll make a video sometime. It's how I made my golden teacher mushrooms just using transparent clay for thinner effect or use a light gold with transparent and it serves as a basecoat more you build. Bake or dry clay first.

Very cool!! 💜 I have another tip about baking on glass. If you have a large project, take it off the glass to cool, or you could crack the glass because it cools faster than the clay. Only with larger things though. A few mushrooms would probably be okay. Good to know about the nail polish.

To add some rain drops.. to look realistic.. I keep all those plastic covers from paint brushes.. I do them gently into .. white paint ..then a slightly smaller size for the black.. I make to circles of white first and the smaller black.. over top.. and a dab of gloss modge probe over tip with a brush and you..have rain drops on your leaves and mushrooms

ohhh thank you for sharing that! I was so scared to ruin other people's projects with my lack of knowledge but the mushrooms I made and covered in the polish look amazing still today, all these many months later. I use the matt and/or gloss coats that Sculpey makes. I didn't want to deal with the melting/de-polymeration issue that I knew from building plastic models. Also, Future Floor polish works wonders (and is an old model-builders trick) for glossing after painting. (and 101 other uses too!).
@WhereTheGnomesLive4 жыл бұрын
Mikrogami S since this video I started using a water based Varathane and that does the job beautifully. Those tiny mushrooms are still on my gnome home today, they survived lol no melting at all. Also you could try making the feet flat, by making a back loop only for the first row after finishing the size of the round of the feet , it has helped me to help the amigurumis feet lay flat, but as Sharon said maybe putting some weights (like rice inside a small baggy)

You’ve helped me make some really amazing things for my son. The monkey, bunnies, a witch, Tin man, pumkins, ghosts, etc... I’ve been crocheting forever but only found your channel about 3 yrs ago. Around when my youngest was born. It was such an easy transition into Amigurumi. You basically held my hand while I was learning. I cnt thank you enough for it!!! I recently started painting and found needle felting too. I’m such a crafter at heart lol. Anyways, Srry to take up your time.
