We had a Sharp tube TV that lasted for 17 years before my Dad upgraded to a flat screen...the stuff the Japanese made back in the 1980s to the mid 2000s were very nice quality. Then the Chinese took over and ruined everything.

@I DIED FROM COVID. RIP. :( Everyone will die! China put in extra cheapness and bad quality in them just adding that bit of cheap Chiniseum to it

Racism is glaring on KZbin right? Think critically, maybe you guys are too poor to afford anything high quality?
@cbr100095 ай бұрын
well said, hi-fi systems from late 1980's to 2000's made by japanese/dutch/south koreans sound musical and last upto 30-35 years if used properly. Speaker systems started sounding like crap as soon as they were powered by chynese ICs.
@alberttatlock52375 жыл бұрын
Listen up commenters, This is a 1980s Ghetto Blaster recorded on a Digital computer and then sent to KZbin, you are now hearing it through your own computers, phones or wherever. You cannot possibly judge the sound quality of something in a KZbin video, you need to be in the actual room it's being used in. A phone or P.C mic badly positioned can cause all kind of Acoustic issues with the sound.

I can judge he doesn't care much for bass... it didn't take him long to put the bass knob back in the flat position!
@fender10001003 жыл бұрын
@@slapopimp Anyone old enough to be breaking to this box first time round can tell you this baby pumps its out. This is one of the holy grails. This wouldnt have been how I would present this legend. But I know its one of the greatest. The thing im more concerned about. Is getting one in good working order. Without having to remorgage my house. These can change hands for upwards of $1500 in decent condition.
@dwindeyer3 жыл бұрын
@@fender1000100 Let's be real, boomboxes were never designed to be hifi components. They sound "OK" and have good output for a portable device. The engineering on the speaker drivers and cabinets at this time also was very limited compared to the long throw drivers and efficient digital amps in todays portable speakers. You could get a lot more output and bass for the size.

if the sound is too muffled on tape, a head realignment is the last thing to do, if the heads are still factory aligned. It is adviseable to clean all heads as good as possible and demagnetise them eventually. Absolutely fine portable radio, though
@80s_Boombox_Collector6 жыл бұрын
It might be the cassette tape itself. If it was recorded 2-3 decades ago and it wasn't stored in dry and temperature controlled areas, it will decline in quality. None of mine sound as good as they did when they were new.
@McLarenMercedes4 жыл бұрын
@@80s_Boombox_Collector I'd say the quality of the tape itself is a factor too. I purchased expensive Chrome(type II) and Metal(type IV) cassette tapes when I was a kid (I read audio reviews as a 12 year old) and recently listened to the recordings (they were off CD's) I made somewhere around 1993 or so. My jaw dropped because the sound was better than the streaming music I played through my smartphone.
