Small correction: the US system outputs COMPOSITE directly to the screen. The Famicom Titler (that's a whole other video) and the Japanese C1 TV are the only Famicom/NES that natively output RGB. Many sources got this wrong annoyingly...should have triple checked!

Another tiny correction about fixing CRTs, 4:30 yes they are very dangerous, and they can store a very nasty charge long after they've been turned off, but not for years! Probably more like a day at the most. Still dangerous things though, and you should really, really, really know what you are doing if you are going to open one up, even if it is off. Thanks for the video! Never knew these existed!!

Kelsey, I had a baby-sitter who lived across the street from me growing up. She was awesome and used to make biscuits and chocolate gravy every morning for me. Anyways, to this day, I keep telling everyone she had a Nintendo built-in to her tv and no one ever believed me lmao! Thanks for the video, because this helps a lot with my experience growing up. Toni (the girl who baby-sat me) was awesome at Iron Sword, and I LOVED the music to it. This video brings back so many memories I'm almost at tears, and I'm 32 yrs. old. So, with that said, I've decided to subscribe and I'm binge watching your channel for the next few days. You rock Kelsey!

I'm so jealous of the condition of yours. I'm missing the doors, controllers, and remote. My uncle was a brute and lost and destroyed most of the pieces. As a kid I never knew better and thought it was just normal to play my NES games on a TV like this. As I got older and started to have friends over to play only then did I realize it was a unique piece of gaming. I was ballsy enough to take mine apart a couple years ago and repair my pin connector but let me tell you, it was terrifying since I didn't know how to discharge the capacitor in the TV. I carefully worked around it and luckily didn't get zapped. Another tidbit to add, while anecdotal, my grandmother remembers seeing it in her FingerHut magazines as well. It's not talked about and even I forgot to mention it in my videos.

Did your uncle get it from fingerhut originally or somewhere else? If so I'd love to hear how much it was a month.

I was told we got it from the Kmart across the river from my current apartment but that it was also available through FingerHut. I was told a few times what the cost was for us but I can't recall right now. My dad is due to phone me later on so I can ask him to ask my grandmother if she remembers or if he even remembers. I wanna say it was around $800. I feel like someone has posted the TV with original receipt but I could be thinking of something else. I have to see if it was in the TV owner's FB group or elsewhere.
@CandisClassicGameShrine

Ok, just got off the phone with my dad, he said my grandmother paid roughly $750 to $800 for it. Hope that helps. Wish we were smart enough to keep everything for it.

Hey Kelsey. I don't have any proof but I do remember very well. When I was about 7 me and my parents where looking for a new TV for my room. The mall I seen this TV in was St. Clarsville Ohio Valley Mall in about 1987 in sears. Me and my brother both played with it. And dreamed of getting it as we did not have a NES at the time. I remember that if you started it without a game galaga played on it. I can tell you one of the reasons I think it did not sell was the price. When me and my brother played with it. It was on sale for around $650 for holiday. Me and my brother assumed that was the price. As in those days they would just put a current tag up and not tell you how much off it was. When we dragged our mom in to show her and ask her it for Christmas the sale was over. And the price had increased to just under $800. At the 650 it was about 50 more than just getting a good 19inch color TV and a Nintendo. But at $800 you could get that and some games or a bigger TV. So I remember it failing due to price. And there was really nothing on it or the box that said it played NES games. And back pre internet. If you did not spell everything out for people they would not know or trust it. The thought process then was. Why should I trust sharp to make a knock off Nintendo when I can get a real one. And it has Mario packed in instead of Galaga. Anyway just some insight. And what I clearly remember when I had a run in of a new one of these.

Cell Processing it was so long ago for me but when I thought about the price I vaguely remember but am glad somebody else mentioned it being around $600 because that's what I remember seeing it for. I remember I saw it in a fingurhut catalogue and taking it to school one day and showing my gamer friends and that was the one thing that just made it an after thought was the price. The NeS system back then was like $140, which for the time was a lot of money, $600-800 or even a thousand was a fortune, nobody was going to throw down that for video game stuff.

We stayed in a hotel that had N64 games built in to the TV (this was about 15 years ago). I think the game software was delivered to the unit from a central server that did the billing. Our kid loved it.

I scored a little 1983, Japanese made Sony Trinitron recently. Its like this thing was made for really old video game consoles. It knows nothing about red and yellow plugs but It has back and front coaxial ports, great mono sound and an easy fine tune system. Even has this unique removable plastic screen cover that you can polish up nicely after you accidently spray Dorito flavoured cola spit all over it in a rage. Really gives it an arcade type look and feel as well. I think its polarised or something because it seems to have help keep the screen quality in great condition. I buddied it up with a nes, customised it with a few stickers and a couple of shiny, aftermarket Nintendo badges, and now its my unofficial SONY NES TV. If you love playing nes, you got to get something like this I think. I couldn't imagine playing on anything else now. 32cm/12.5 inch screen is big enough to not stretch the 8-bit graphics and make them look nice. Plus, small enough to fit on the corner of a large coffee table without blocking your big screen TV. If you are playing nes on a modern flat screen, you played yourself!

My mother once had the U.S. version that you showed with the black controllers and she absolutely loved it. My dad had picked it up for her from a local rent to own place. Sadly they hit some financial troubles and had to send it back. It's a real shame too cause I know how much she loved it. She still mentions it from time to time. Perhaps one day if by some miracle I ever can afford it, it would be so nice to find one for her again.

Somewhere in the mid 90's my cousin had a small red unit, never looked at the brand. His mom worked at a hotel in Santa Ana, California. I'm not sure if in the lobby or if in the rooms but at this hotel they had this tv. The owner gave her the used tv to give to my cousin as they didn't own Nintendo nor a functioning tv at the time. We played the hell out of that thing. I was super jelly of that tv for whatever reason, I had a small 13 inch TV in my room and an nes. I just thought the red looked so cool and how it loaded the games was mind blowing at the time. I have no idea what became of the tv or of my cousin. They definitely got their red tv with built in nes from a hotel.

The reason why they're hard to find in Sears magazines and such is because they were never really meant to be sold to the public in large numbers. Even though they did sell some in public stores their main consumer were hotels and gaming expos and places like that. I remember Las Vegas hotel rooms had these and they also had some sort of lock chips inside them so to play games in your hotel room you had to call the front desk and they unlocked it for a certain amount of time depending on how much it costs. Nintendo wanted the consumer to focus more on the NES for private use. That's why the tvs cost more than a Nintendo and tv separate. Because sharp knew businesses would pay extra for it.

if any average or even below average girl goes on youtube and says she plays video games then every neckbeard virgin loser acts like she's the most beautiful girl on the planet because they've rarely left their mom's basement and actually seen other women in real life. "Oh wow, a GIRL....and she plays VIDEO GAMES!" Newsflash you fucking nerds, everyone plays video games. This girl is like a 5/10 at best.

My parents owned one of these when I was a kid! Awesome memories! Remember my brother and me playing Mario 1 on it at the rental place before my parents brought it home. Sadly we don’t have it anymore... Wish I still had this thing.

I remember seeing one of these at an old Salvation Army near my house a couple years back. I was confused because the TV had a Nintendo logo, but I didn't see any slots or ports for games or remotes, so i didn't think much about it. I've thought about it a couple times and kinda regret not getting it. I'm almost sure that the Nintendo part was taken out, but back then, I honestly didn't know what it was.

I remember we stayed at a hotel one weekend while we were in upstate NY or PA I can't really remember where, but I remembered the room had a tv like this where you could play nes games built into a crude menu. That thing was awesome.

There is also a Sharp TV with a built-in SNES/NSFC as well. Moreover, the Sharp NES/SNES televisions also sold in the USA, but they are even harder to find than the Japanese or International ones.
