This Easter, we turn our attention to India's Christian minority, which represents 2% of the population, or some 25 million people. Amid a rise in Hindu fundamentalism, attacks on India's Christians have sharply increased in the past two years. This comes despite a clause in the country's constitution that guarantees the freedom to openly practice any religion. Our correspondents report.

First India's constitution is based on secularism where everyone has freedom to follow whatever religion they want. I was born in a hindu family, later after moving to America cut short my name from Samikhsha to Sam and then after marriage adopted my Latin American husbands last name(Dominguez).

Most of the attacks against Christians was centred around North India, where the religion was brought by British missionaries who converted the people.. but in south, Christianity was around for almost 2000 years, which was introduced by Saint Thomas, The Apostle.. As a Christian from Kerala, i can tell you that there's no such attacks targetted on christians by other comunities.. and all of us exist in peace and harmony..

I don't understand this drama about conversion. Christianity first came to India 2000 years ago and still just a small percentage of the population are Christians. In South India , these kind of things are virtually non - existent because Christians have been in South India for thousands of years and have great influence in the society as well as Muslims, here we tend to be very less divided along religious lines.... Its mostly the North who are barbarous against the Muslims, Christians and other minorities especially those Ultra - Nationalists who want India to become a "Hindu" country which ofc goes against the very nature of secularism enshrined in the constitution....
