Cutting in the direction across the fibers and along the wood fibers is technologically very different and the second one is much more labor intensive. The main difference between the saw chains specialized for them will be the angles of attack of the cutting links on the chains: the longitudinal sawing chains will require sharper angles (from 5 to 15 degrees), on the cross-cutting chains they will be larger and reach 25-30 degrees. Longitudinal sawing due to the cross-sawing chain will result in strong vibration during operation, the saw will be unstable and "aggressive" in the hands of the operator, an additional load will be created on its engine.
