PowerDirector - Tips on managing resources with favorites

Every since I came across the FAVORITES feature, it's been my go-to for recalling any titles, transitions, etc. Glad you found this, Jim, as it will save you from searching like a dog in trying to find that which you need. Thanks for the video.

Great. I was in countering just this problem last week while I was doing some editing and couldn’t find a simple fade transition which I use 90% of the time when I’m editing. The new power Director interface makes you have to dig down to find stuff that you used to be able to fine easily. Thank you for your simple and friendly and highly effective tutorials.

Yes it is neat how your clips are color coded now on the timeline but, also have to get use to the new set up now too.

Great tips, Jim. I've used favourites for a while, but I see they also have the Custom category under My Content...that's good too! I was finishing another project (my retirement!) before taking the plunge to upgrade. Maybe tonight.

With PD 365 adding content every month it has become cumbersome to find things. I find favourites is a great way to speed up my work flow. I was please to see that the new version carried across all my old favourites from before, although it did take me about 10 minutes to find with the new interface. Thanks Jim for the continued videos, I always look forward to what you have to offer.

at about 2:00 you can load a file to say AI wind (I do not have with 365 AI image gen its excluded) notice when opening, how the video goes directly to the beginning of the timeline. I want to open New Project, bring a file in import then drag to the timeline anywhere, at it stops on the middile. I love for it to be magnet to the beginning, Is there anything like this that I am missing in the prefrence and settings to do so. even to have the Marker always play on the beginning of any clip I bring in. that is my querry

I wish the preference settings gave you more control over the playhead. I've resorted to using keyboard controls. If I want to move between one clip and another, I use CTRL - Right Arrow or CTRL left Arrow The active clip will have a white border around it. Then to move the playhead to the beginning of the clip I press the PgUp key to get into clip mode, then the Home key to move to the beginning of the clip or the End key to the end of the clip. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it does work faster than dragging the playhead with the mouse if you want precision. I hope they simplify this in the future. --Jim

That's a challenge like remodeling an airplane while in flight. Switching isn't urgent, so you can look for a time that might be best. --Jim

The BIG practical change for me is that finally you can re-size assets using the corner nodes without it resizing from the centre point!

Hello, ths for your tips. I am using the last version of the 365 PD and I have noticed that the possibility to change quicly the opacity had been removed from the timeline video clips. Now to change the opacity I have to use the longer way of the keyframe menu. Can you help me toi find it again ifstill there? It was very useful and fast in editing for me. Thankyou. Several of us have mentioned this on the Cyberlink Forum. At this moment, the opacity line is not available on the timeline. I hope they bring it back. --Jim

Does the new Intro Screen have an option to not show it in the future and just jump right into the program (similar to previous versions)? Or is it a matter of Cyberlink forcing the advertising of features on users especially the AI tool which just happens to come up first. I'm suspecting that there was a "rush to market" of the 2024 Version just so they could be the first to jump on the AI bandwagon in Video Editing.

I'd like to see it be something you can bypass. But AI is hot, as you said. And I'm guessing the marketing department carries a lot of weight. It's not what I would prefer, but I'm not trying to meet sales goals either. --Jim

When will the new version of PowerDirector become available to download? I am a PowerDirector 365 subscriber and to date have not seen the new version.

You can load Cyberlink application manager and download from there. Or you can open PowerDirector and click on the ? symbol in the upper right and choose "Check for updates". --Jim

Hey Thanks for that, i have had a major issue though with favourites, i spent hours and days looking for all the effects and transitions etc only to have the program freeze and when started back up not only did it erase my work which i only had an hour tonight but it erased all my favourites! this is the 2nd time so now I'm questioning this and also I'm afraid to spend all the time searching and marking the favourites again only to have them be erased to zero... is there anyone else having this issue and is there a solution? thanks in advance for any help.

do you happen to know if there is anything that i can do to prevent the loss of all the favourites that are saved when this happens? i have seen online that this is a common thing happening but i cannot find a solution? can the favourites be backed up into the cloud some way? i have a 365 subscription..@@SharperTurtle

I was not aware that PowerDirector can loose track of favorites. I will have to create a bunch more of them and monitor the collection to see what I can learn. Is there a category of favorites (titles, transitions) that you find are more prone to this than others? --Jim

Under "My Titles" there is a subcategory called "Custom". When I upgraded it imported all my custom titles from before without any extra effort. --Jim
