Absolutely wonderful. Very easy to see this is a still living true martial/war/combat art. Great to hear about the use of fascia, relaxation and body mass instead of muscular strength; very rare and precious discussions! Also it was a joy to see the master here move, such wonderful use of space/distance, timing, and everything...fantastic stuff. Thank you sharing!

This has a very similar pacing/feel to sword and buckler, though the curve gives more of a saber feel. Buckler and saber is a pretty interesting weapon pairing.

I was just discussing the other day how much movies misrepresent the way truly trained people use bladed weapons. Between the weight and the sharpness the movements tend to be short and precise . Unless there is serious armor it doesn't take great pressure to cause a serious or even fatal wound

Thank you, this is very awesome video, the weapon itself is quite exotic to me, but there is a lot of interresting (and not easy to obtain) informations in general (even how to hold tulwar and so on). Very informative. I have years of experience with european blades, but this is something verry different, yet I am able to understand it and it broadened my horizons and inspired me.

What about the serrations? Serrated knives cut viciously through cloth and meat, but they can get stuck and tend to clogg up. Bigger serrations seem pretty useless to me. Yes, you can do a nasty cut with a sawblade, but a smooth blade of the same size is likely to cut deeper without getting stuck...

I love the comments about using mass instead of strength. I come from the tradition of Aikido and we were always moving by spilling our weight, if for no other reason than because it is often the fastest way to move.

Between the two weapons the katar is more dangerous. The tegha is useless against chainmail without a strength backed swing. However the katar could pierce chain. More likely this blade was a sign of allegiance and honor because between its use date (1300-1800) the improvement of armor would have made it all but useless.
@descendancedenoefilsdadam1028 Жыл бұрын
Completly wrong statement serrated blade have design that allow them to go trough chainmail and this Zulfiqar design is very dangerous because the double point can puncture chainmail with ease and also trap blades and act as a blade breaker.

hi, could you please make a sparring video? these moves look like chaotic and very vulnerable sure, you demonstrate type of weapon, not technique I could see there many feints, but your opponent are too passive in responce (actually, in some situation if he just straights his arm you could be thrusted) ps sorry for my English, I hope it's not too bad and it's possible to understand what I mean :)

@kahnaakrishan2 жыл бұрын
he mentioned that it is miscalled a zulfikar By shastar makers but a zulfikar has no serations and is a mmulim blade this is a serrated tegha
@rupertbollywood11902 жыл бұрын
@@kahnaakrishan Actually, a dhulfiqar sword has 18 serrations on the back, and isn't what the modern Muslims call "dhulfiqar" today.

Very interesting weapon! On a side note, everytime you engage your partner, he immediately drops his guard and sword below waist level and freezes. It isn't very useful for the sake of demonstrating the weapon's utility against an armed opponent.
@BradYaeger2 жыл бұрын
It's a real sword , possible both are , so often that is done to avoid any accidental injuries . Practice weapons are better suited for that type of demonstration .
