The way that the bombastic music cuts out when Dream starts to beat up Tommy and it goes to the beta minecraft music is genius, and the somber tone it gives is amazing and suitable and just great, and then Tommy gets revived, he opens his eyes and... BANG! THE BOMBASTIC MUSIC RETURNS IMMEDIATELY! It's genius. Tommy regaining his senses is communicated clearly to us and it gives such a big impact.

some things i also noticed :) 4:13 - ranboo confirmed that his character canonically has scars from tear tracks on his cheeks, which i think is what this frame shows. 4:50 - i really like that late august flashes to the red strings (aka from dream’s manipulation during exile) and also the blood from (presumably) where dream won the duel and killed tommy with the arrow. 5:34 - i think this is another really interesting choice by late august! i noticed that they changed their ranboo design from him wearing the white-black mask to actually becoming more enderman-esque, but have kept sam as human despite his creeper skin. i suppose this is because sam isn’t canonically part creeper, as far as i can tell, and also the gas mask design is very popular (i don’t know who made it initially, however). 8:06 - i think wilbur said that he spent the afterlife playing competitive solitaire, if i’m not mistaken lmao, so i believe this is a reference to that also 8:42 - i might be wrong here but i think sam’s trident is infected with vines, i suppose as a reference to sam’s personal experiences with the egg. 10:47 - i think i missed the entire second half of this animatic the first time i watched it lmao 11:18 - i really like ranboo’s character being blindfolded here. it reminds me of late august’s technoblade design, to the extent that i don’t think it’s just a coincidence - techno is also blindfolded, to represent that his justice is ‘blind’, which i suppose is similar to ranboo’s character in that he chooses people over sides, and wants justice fairly (he represented that at techno’s execution, at the least - he was under the impression techno was getting a fair trial, etc.). i think here in particular it is referencing the fact that ranboo was in his enderwalk state during the red banquet. 12:40 - just briefly we can see quackity, purpled, and techno with his hounds. techno is also blindfolded here - his blindfold is different to ranboo’s, however, both that it isn’t red and is actually made of bandages instead. i think this could somewhat represent the fact that techno came to his ideals through great personal hardship (the betrayals, etc.) and the hurt he has experienced in the past - after all, he identifies as an anarchist because he’s seen how governments and institutionalised power corrupts the people within them, and he’s also experienced governments using their power unjustly personally (i.e. wilbur being corrupted by l’manburg, the butcher army hunting him down). his beliefs and desire for justice are ultimately to help others so that they don’t have to go through what he did.

For me, the most impactful scenes were some of the most simple. First, when Tommy and Tubbo were sitting on the bench together, where Dream is thought off then that fear hits Tommy straight away. It shows how he gets scared from Dream being even mentioned in any way whether it's thoughts, through a conversation, etc. Second, after Tommy comes back to life and immediately flinches from Dream touching him. This shows how sensitive to touch he is after being revived and has got PTSD from many things. Again messed with Tommy's mental state massively. Third, basically right after where he is clutching his head at about 10:30 in YoBgs's video. Again showing how his mental state is being so tampered with. Fourth, where he realizes/is told that Tubbo and Ranboo are married and feeling like he's being replaced. These scenes really show how much all of this has messed with Tommy mentally and physically. The difference between Sad-ists and Late August's animatics/animations is the way he is portrayed, in Sad-ists he's portrayed as strong-willed and ready for war and such. Then in Late August's, the more vulnerable and emotional side of him is shown. Nevertheless, both animators are INCREDIBLE and make BEAUTIFUL animatics.

It's true though! The train left and took ghostbur, but we all knew the next train was coming and we knew WHO was on it. Like I could accept ghostbur crossing peacefully into some form of afterlife, but to look back down the tube and see another set of lights.... it didn't end well

I've always imagined Tommy's death as a violent beat down that ends in a quick neck snap. Dream loses it and beats him after Tommy's comments, but then remembers his goals and finishes the job.

@@YoBGS That's also an interesting way to see it, I've always imagined people like Dream, Techno and Purpled, all of the PvPers as the "skilled fighters" of the SMP, who could win all their battles. But Tommy and others being on the same level does make it really interesting becuase victory isn't guaranteed for any of the sides.

Tubbo's horn doesn't mean that he's evil!! There was a period of time when Tubbo was president of L'Manberg, where people compared his actions to Sclatt, when he was president (mainly exiling Tommy because Schlatt has exiled Wilbur and Tommy before). Tommy also once said something like "Don't be the next Schlatt" to Tubbo. So overtime the artists of the community started drawing Tubbo with horns and now it's part of his character (at least artistically).

My interpretation of Tubbo's horns is that his time as part of Schlatt's cabinet changed Tubbo, not necessarily in that it made him evil, but more so that it gave him some level of Trauma. In Tommy's recent streams, I feel like we've started seeing Tubbo's trauma. Like when Tommy was doing exposure therapy, Tubbo was trying to point out that he'd been hurt too, but Tommy was not letting him express that ("you have thicker skin"). And then, in the recent Tommy stream where he asked Tubbo to dig stone... Tubbo had this immediate submission response, immediately doing what Tommy told him. It was almost like a switch, it felt a bit scary honestly. (Most likely not what Tubbo is going for, but it's my current reading).

When you talked about Tubbo becoming the villain, I think it's more meant to represent the Schlatt era as part of Tubbo's past and something that still affects him to this day. That's also why the scars from the festival execution flashed red as well, it's something that's caused him pain that still hasn't been addressed properly. The majority of the red flashes seem to represent dark parts of a person or their past, like Ranboo's tear scars, and Tommy breaking/burning the flower that Ranboo had given him out of sheer anger and frustration when he was revived. That being said, the fact that the Eggpire folks & Dream were entirely red shows a lot too huh?

I highly recommend that you react to Paprikup’s animations on the dsmp. Their criminally underrated, and the animation in each scene is gorgeous! The best ones are ‘Devil’s Deal’, ‘City of Stars’, and ‘Undying’. They like to cut the music and startle you, so be warned!

Content Warning: Dark subjects and stuff. One thing I noticed that a lot of people seem to have missed is that it appears that Dream needs the ghost of the person he wants to revive in order to revive them - he had to kill Ghostbur to resurrect Wilbur. So what about Tommy? I think that after Tommy was beaten down in the cell by Dream, there was a GhostInnit (or Phantommy) trapped in there with Dream for the two days Dream waited before reviving Tommy. And if the GhostInnit was anything like Ghostbur, then that would mean that the GhostInnit would've been missing many vital memories, mentally vulnerable and have no idea what was happening to him, WHILE trapped in the cell with Dream - who knows what abuse Dream could've done to him. It could even be that the one of the main reasons Dream didn't immediately revive Tommy (apart from giving enough time for the news of his death to spread) was because he was having *too much fun torturing GhostInnit to care about reviving him.* Take a moment to contemplate that, if you can.
