ross and rachel are , to me, the best (or one of) couple ever written in tv. because they weren't even together most of the time, and most of the time they weren't even thinking about it. it wasn't one person constantly going after the other and getting turned down. it wasn't them constantly breaking up, it wasn't all drama and misundertandings that stopped them from being together. it looked real, they were always good friends and there are moments where you can see they really care about the other one's happiness even when theres no love interest.

"Friends" is what is is because it's the story of not only the six of them together but also because it takes place over the course of 10 years of Ross and Rachel's premarital relationship. They've explored romance, love, hate, anger, and you know the full range of emotions together to get them ready for the possibility of marriage.

I respectfully disagree. I think they are a great couple, but their story was handled very poorly. Two people who love one another that much and are constantly in one another’s orbit would not naturally take an entire decade to find their way back to one another. It just felt forced after a certain point. I understand the writers were afraid of putting them together too soon but ten years really was too long.

I will forever feel cheated. In the pilot Ross says he wants to be married and Rachel arrives in a wedding dress. We spent 10 years investing in their story and never got the payoff we were promised from day one.

Rachel and Ros is always love each other even after their break up Rachel went to the airport to tell him she loved him but could only get the gate attendant to pass on a message which he never received. Rachel went on a date to try to move on but couldn't because her feelings were so strong. She's devastated when Ross returns with Julie. Once they do get together, Ross and Rachel's love for each other intensify and when they breakup it's heart breaking for both because they mean so much to each other. Even after this their love refuses to die to the extent that Rachel flies to London to tell Ross she loves him and only doesn't do so because she thinks he's happy with Emily. (I agree with Rachel that Ross doesn't really love Emily). Ross is stunned when Rachel finally tells him she loves him and is in a mess because he's married to someone he doesn't really love. As time goes on they become close friends, getting married (Rachel's idea) and divorced but with both admitting that if they had a proper wedding it would last, indicating they still love each other as much as ever. Ross and Rachel continue to seek each other out for support including sleeping together for mutual benefit (when Emma is conceived) and living together as roommates on two occasions. First when Rachel has to move out of Monica's and then when she's pregnant with Emma. Rachel is horrified when she sees how distraught Ross is at her and Joey being together and whilst she pursues Joey, she knows it's not going to last. After she and Joey breakup she doesn't date anyone else because she's so in love with Ross but doesn't know he feels the same. Its not until he tells her at the airport that she discovers the depth of his love and is so overwhelmed that she boards the plane for Paris. Rachel phones Ross to tell him that she loves him and by repeating it to herself realises she's about to make a terrible mistake. Rachel gets off the plane, rejecting the dream job in Paris, so she can be with the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. Both declare their deep love for each other saying this is it for them, they're never letting each other go again. (They even share a joke about “we were on a break").

Yep. I like Monica and Chandler just as much as Ross and Rachel. Monica and Chandler's relationship is so much funnier though cause well.. Chandler is in it xD. Ross and is more serious, especially the part when they were "on a break". But I wish they made Joey and Phoebe a couple....... I still like Mike but remember in one of the episodes they made a bet saying that by the age of 40 if they haven't married anyone then they would marry each other..... I kinda wish that happened.
