Funny story: During Covid, when everyone was wearing masks I was standing outside a shop in South Dublin waiting for it to open. Lockdown had just been lifted and as I turn to my left I see a guy walking towards me and I’m like, that guy looks a lot like Shaun Murphy. I couldn’t help but do several double takes and staring. As he walked past I was sure it was him. But then I was thinking what was Shaun Murphy doing here during covid 🤷🏼‍♂️ I was thinking then it must be his doppelgänger, total lookalike! Turned out it was Shaun, I only learned afterwards that he is married to an Irish girl and was over here at the time. 🤦🏼‍♂️ wish I had said Hello now 😂

He controlled his weight and now looks positively athletic, lean and beaming [not mean by no measure, he is the thorough gentleman (check the video in which he once lost to an amateur, which was one exception!), his routine at the table impeccable and consistent. Above all, a happy family life is such a vital factor and I think he is blessed. I am looking forward to his meeting RonnieO Sullivan this season!

More often a ranking event in sports is played without an audience and the seeded events for which you need the ranking points to get seeded in the first place are played with an audience. Like the players championships in darts (no audience) vs. the PDC world championship.

I mean what a ridiculous thing to do given there are no fans allowed for this tournament and hardly anyone cares. Whoever made that decision should take a closer look at themselves in the mirror...

Don't know exactly, but it's very small. Aprox 1cm diameter I would guess.

So it's usually around 7mm, and never above 10mm. Shaun is one of the few people who uses a 5mm cue tip, which is very small.

@@ajaymurali97 Murphy does not use a 5 mm tip. The smallest you will see on the tour is 8.5 mm. These guys use 9mm to 9.5mm ... Mark's tip is super hard.

Hi..i just heard the commentator say Murphy wud've preferred the heavier white he had in the morning session..huh ??..i thought the weight of the bals were standard..does anybody know more about this?

There are variants depending on manufacturer and specifications, but the WSA usually standardises them. Some balls will, however, be heavier due to machining errors (by up to 10 grams). What Shaun meant was that he selected a heavier ball last session, and was struggling to get used to the lighter one they had this session.

Aramith supply the snooker balls for, I believe, all tournaments. The balls weigh 142 grams and are guaranteed within 1 gram of each other ("Super Pro 1G")

This is snooker with a billiards flavour. Williams conceding a frame with only 2 snookers needed is uncaring imo. Being already behind he needed it.

@@Tsvgs-dy4ow in that first instance, we have a 'free ball' situation. Mark had fouled by not hitting the red the shot before and the cue ball landed in a place where Shaun couldn't see a whole red. In this case you can nominate a colour vocally to the ref and this becomes a red for that shot only. It's to stop mark getting a tactical advantage from a foul.

@@Tsvgs-dy4ow The ref said "1" after potting the yellow, which means he had a free ball due to the opponent's foul. The yellow counts as a red, then he can play a colour next. When the white/cue ball goes in off it is replaced within the marked D section at a spot of the opponent's choosing.
