Super Mazembe recorded their version nearly two years after this original one. I know because I was working on a session back to back in CBS's studio Nairobi. So Mazembe did NOT record the original... This is the one and only God inspired work of genius

That this is the original should help those who insist that Mazembe was the first to do the song. Nguasi Ntimbo had to go to Nairobi to sort out the copy right issues when Mazembe did a cover for the song. Mazembe apparently never did a successful album after aping festival du zaire.

We play a mangled version in Okinawa (Japan). When I first learned how to play it in Botswana, we nicknamed it "national anthem" because people would request it over and over again. We could almost have played it all night.

Thanks Muzikifan, for posting this wonderful song. I have it on a very old tape and have been dying to hear a clear version of it. Although I have Super Mazembe's version on CD, I have always preferred the original............simply BRILLIANT!

I think the correct rendition of 'shauri yako' is 'it's up to you'
