Nice! my wife let our a long sigh when she saw me watching it. She knows I'm getting ready to spend some money. I also wanted to thank you for pointing me toward the Merkur Progress. Mine arrived on Friday and I celebrated with my first use of T.O.B.S. sandalwood along with the progress and it was hands down the best shave I've had yet. Big thank you brother.

Hi Kevy don’t know how I haven’t seen this video before so nice to get your opinion on different soaps as unfortunately there are no shaving shops anywhere near me. Amazing as the closest City is Birmingham. So any shaving products I have to buy via the internet. With our current situation cannot even travel to London. Love to see your opinions it’s a big help in deciding what to buy. Keep well and keep safe.

Beautiful collection Kevy. my own is small but growing I'm a big fan of Italian Barber/Razorck soaps as well. my main favorites are Amici and Italy 1955. If you don't have either buy them they are wonderful scents and perform excellently

You guys are so lucky to still have Marks and Spensers. They left Canada around 30 yrs ago or more. Grew up with them, love the quality of their clothes and their sweets were second to none. I was too young to try the aftershaves, i'm sure their great. Tried to get them here but they won't mail them to Canada. Great video, take care

I just bought my first DE razor.... a Rockwell 6S based on a bunch of KZbin reviews. I also chose Cella and RazoRock XXX as my first soaps. I also got some of that Cucumber Witchhazel Thayers stuff you had on one of your videos. I can’t imagine I’ll ever own a 1/4 of what you have there. How long does a can of Cella last a guy that shaves every 3-4 days? This gig is a lot more involved than my 5 blade Gillette razor and can of shaving gel! Lol

Great to hear you've bought some gear for wet shaving. Always great when I hear stuff like that. You have some good gear to get you going. Cella will last you a good while shaving every 3-4 days. You only need a small amount of that to create a lot of lather. Don't be afraid to add water to the Cella lather, just a little bit at a time. It can take a good amount of water and its a great soap. Practice and watch lots of videos on here to find out and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. This hobby can get expensive...if you let it! Lol! Cheers. Kevy :)

Hi Steven. Thanks for the comment. I couldn't pin it down to just one favourite, there are so many and I have lots of new ones since this video was made. Perfect timing to see this video. I had a package delivered yesterday with Taconic Shave (Eucalyptus Mint, Bay Rum and Lime) and Trigodon's Wild Seas soaps because my wife didn't really like Razorock XXX. She and the kids love the Wild Seas, Eucalyptus Mint and Bay Rum in that order. They weren't too impressed with the Lime but I'll still give it a go. Bottom line is I can blame her for my growing soap collection (at least for now). Now I just need to install something to store them in.

It does have something on the tub, usually saying 6 or 12 months but to be honest if you air your soap after you use it to make sure it's dried and then store it in a cool dark place, it will last for years without any issues. Cheers. Kevy 😀

Hey Kevy, just checking out this video again, and one thing that caught my eye was the fact that you have a puck of Williams Mug Soap, and I'm pretty sure I've watched all your videos, but I don't recall you ever using it. I know there's a lot of other much more interesting soaps that you also haven't used on video, and I'd also look forward to seeing those in use, but if you happen to see this comment, I'd be interested to see your thoughts on Williams. It's basically the American equivalent of Arko or Palmolive, or whatever the particular budget soap of a country would be. Some people love it's slickness, but others struggle to get a good lather out of it, so I'd love to see what camp you fall into. Take care! -Henry

@@kevyshaves4109 Haha, no sense in keeping it for posterity, it's still easy to get in the US for $1-2 per round. I got one for everyone in my family before I moved to Germany just for the heck of it. I'm pretty sure you could get another to replace the one you use pretty easily.

Cheers. I get some,of,my soaps here in the UK, some I get sent from the States and some of them I bought when I was over in the US on holiday. There are a few online shops here in the UK that stick some good US shaving products. Shaving Station, Shaving Time, Agent Shave, all good people to deal with. All the best. Kevy 👍

The one million dollar question: do these soaps decompose with time? Not lather as well and change in smell (either lose strength or worse turn rancid)? Thanks for the information..... i am about to order more but started to worry....

They might lose some of their scent. Most are ok for a few years if you make sure they're left to air dry with the lid off for a day or two after you use them. I've never had any trouble with soaps going off. Cheers. Kevy 😀

I add a dab of Trader Joe’s Mango Shaving Cream to all my soaps and creams to add slickness. It is incredibly slick but doesn’t lather very well on its own. I have greatly reducing my nicks.

The Haslinger is an amazing soap for the money. Fantastic face feel and great cushion, slickness and glide. I've onlyt tried the Honey scent. Not used the Coconut yet, I only bought it recently but the scent is very nice.You won't go wrong with TOBS :)

I never hear you talk about "Sterling Soap Company" i do understand why. a while back i ordered my first shaving products from Rod, I really like what Rod is doing and the fact that he's a fellow former service man is great always like to hear former service man doing so well.. Last week my wife asked me what i wanted for my birthday so i told her sum Sterling Soap products and perhaps a new brush from Sterling.. So together we ordered for $96 and had to pay $57 for shipping to The Netherlands. For a grand total of $135. And after that i had to pay an extra $35 on top for customs. so in total i had to pay $92 just to get my own gift. i did not want my wife to pay $200 for sum shaving products.. i don't mind the shipping but the extra customs fees really suck. i just wish Rod would just put in $15 value no matter the order. That's why i would like to suggest you do a vid on English or Europe artisan soaps. I know two like OSP and silly nanny perhaps there are others?? Love your share great collection I have a long way to go hahaha

Thanks. Stirling soaps are on my list. I just haven't managed to get hold of any yet. I will pick some up soon. I've heard they are fantastic soaps and the aftershaves are very good too.It's a lot to pay for the US artisan soaps to get here to Europe. Good idea on the European soap video. I've never had any go off yet. There are some vintage soaps and creams that still work great. I think they lose their scent over time but most still work great. As long as you look after your soaps and creams and make sure you let them air dry with the lid off properly after you use them, they should last you formyears to come. I still have a couple.e of my soaps and creams from when I started just over 3 years ago and they still smell and perform wonderfully well. Kevy 😀👍
