Shawbost Reflections

People from Shawbost, a small village on the Isle of Lewis, reflect on their memories. Shawbost Reflections is a social history, a combination of poignancy, pathos, charm and happiness as each person charts their personal life cycle, highlighting events and social change which ultimately shaped each of their lives and the community as a whole - from early school days, growing up, work, living conditions to social events and death.
I would like to thank everyone who participated in and contributed to the video, in particular Calum MacDonald, Donald Mitchell, Dolly Joan MacLean, Donald MacArthur, Etta and Roddy Morrison, Normana MacArthur and her husband Donald who sadly passed away since the filming took place.

Cracking watch and brought back some great childhood memories, when I used to visit my nana in Shawbost every summer. Doing the peats, cleaning nets, doing bobbins for the loom..loved it....and Dolly Joan even gave my Uncle Bimbo a shout out ! 🙂

Went to school at Siabost primary until my family moved to perthshire . Fond memories !
