This was one of the very first pattern making videos I watched a few years back. When I watched it I had no idea of even how to draft a bodice, but I knew everything that I wanted to learn lead right back to this lesson. In other words, think big and learn small. I will be drafting my own shawl collar very soon. I will need to pattern so I can attach some of those beautiful fur collars I still have from years past onto, something equally as nice. Thank you Diane!

Please ma if i want to make a fitted blazer with this collar am i to use the basic block or coat block...is it also OK if i put the breaking point at the waist level. Thanks
@DianeDezieltoolfully4 жыл бұрын
Hello Nwoye, you could use the basic block or the jacket block. The coat block will be too big. Here how it goes, you wear a garment top, blouse or sweater, over it you wear a jacket and over the top and the jacket you wear a coat, so usually jacket are 1 size bigger and coat and other size bigger. BUT the basic block have 4 cm (1 1/2 in.) ease, so it could be wear over a thin garment. Yes the breaking point could be move down to the waist BUT, if its a tight fit, and it wear close all the top part might open more than what you plan. Diane

Hello Diane, I am a Quilter and would love to start making my own garments. I have been watching your videos but I don't really see anything that is for a beginner. Do you have a video from start to finsh that is good for a beginner? Then I would love to work up to these more advanced patterns! Thanks
@DianeDezieltoolfully6 жыл бұрын
Hi Sha-Leine, I have a lot of request right now, and working almost everyday to catchup, but as soon as can I will do a series of video for beginners, promise.

i want to know about a coat collar
@DianeDezieltoolfully6 жыл бұрын
The collar technic is the same, either you do a top or a coat, the only difference might be the thickness of the fabric that would change the excess we add to the top collar (here the facing. Thin to medium fabric we put 3mm, and for thick fabric it could be 5mm + (up to 1 cm for fur or fake fur) Diane
