In her memoir Shawn reveals that this song relates to the dissolution of a marriage but more pointedly to her own sense of artistic/creative inertia after her success allowed the purchase of a lakehouse where she thought she would be safe to recover from the hardships of the sacrifices she made for expression..then she realizes that the house is a trap...she feels isolated from the stimulae that prompted so many great songs and must get herself "out of this house"..I thought that was interesting
