Part 2: • Shawn Cotton Wasn't Ma...
Part 1: • Shawn Cotton on Becomi...
--------
In the latest clip, Shawn Cotton spoke about buying a $650,000 house that's now worth nearly $1 million. After revealing his parents divorced after 22 years of marriage, he explained living with his mother until he was 26-years-old. Rather than rush to move out, Shawn Cotton lived with his mom and helped her out around the house while he worked various minimum wage jobs. It wasn't until he saved $100,000 that he finally moved out. To hear DJ Vlad's opposite perspective, check out the above clip.

This is hella smart. To the young men out there...If you're able to stay home do it. Make sure you have a full time job and stack your money. Work on your credit and you'll be heads and shoulders above your peers. Delayed gratification pays compound interest when you're young. 💯

Fellas, dont let people shame you for living with your parents. Once you move out you will have a lot of expenses (rent, a car note, car insurance, health/dental insurance, etc.) It's better to stack enough money for a years rent and be debt free or close to it. The Asian community follows the "stay with your parents and stack money" method and its working fine for them.

I’ve been trying to tell ppl this for YEARS! As urban youth, we’re taught to move out the house early and struggle as long as you’re out the house for perception. Whereas other ethnicities are taught to stay home, stack until you’re financially stable & then move out when you’re ready. Don’t ABUSE the help, but take advantage of it and grind.

People in Mexico have doing this, I went to Mexico City for a wedding late 90’s and the bride to be was 28 with a engineering degree and a half down on a house. I remember I laughed at them until they asked me if I had a degree and a down payment on a house in America? 🥶

@Daniel Harper I'm pretty sure he didn't literally laugh in their face. And at the end of his statement he even acknowledged that he was ignorant on the situation once it was pointed out to him. I swear most people on the Internet don't understand hyperbole nowadays.
@cameronbarton7648
@cameronbarton7648 3 жыл бұрын
@Daniel Harper Did you just read his comment without even watching the video? The reason he laughed had nothing to do with having a degree, putting down a payment for a house, or getting married. That's was just him giving context about why he was wrong. He laughed because the bride was 28 and still with her parents. The whole video was talking about societal views on living with your parents in your 20s.

Never knew about beloved but I fcks with him. You heard how he said his mom was “the hustler”. Some women just do it all and folks have a hard time respecting that. It subconsciously makes women more hard cause guess what? They have to “man up” and handle responsibilities oftentimes with little to no help. Man needs to think about this sometimes vs condemning every single mother. Every situation is different. Also, definitely stop kicking your kids out if they have no plan or you SEE with your own three eyes(5 if you have glasses) they are not ready. Peace

They got hella debt/bad credit too.. Robbing paul 2 pay peter ... Or they may be into illicit activities....BUT, this is from my own personal experience..... My mom kicked me out at 17 , a junior in HS, with a whole 2 yr old baby ( she didn't do away w/ her grandbaby but she did expect me to man up and be responsible which I grew to respect 1000% ) ... Honestly, I struggled like heck & it seemed like forever.. It took me til damn near 40 just to break even in my life.... I tell my ol' lady (mom) all the time , she should have let me at least finish hs and college before throwing me out, imo ; prematurely... However, ya guy definitely learned a thing or two about surviving these trenches though.. so in retrospect , "It's all good" ....

Gentrification pushed me back but now I have enough cheese to buy me a triplex so everyone’s situation is different can’t judge. Yes we all WANTED to be out when we were 18 but all of us aren’t set up like that.
