Shawn is the best, love his work! Also, I had no clue that he did this album! One of my favorites.

This is fascinating. The taping the tiny mic to the singers neck is so whacky and actually sounds super cool in the mix.

Of course! We couldn't believe the textures he was capturing and creating. Especially how he recorded the vocals.

I'd always assumed this was a very produced, very electronic track. Absolutely wild that it's A. mostly acoustic/electro-acoustic instruments and B. apparently just played live?

One of the standout tracks on the record for me - such an intense mood. Such a treat to see how it was produced and how quirky the process was

12:53 May I ask about the Pultec plugin and what it's achieving on the vocal here? Thank you!
@apogeedigital5 ай бұрын
He is basically creating a LoFi effect by attenuating (cutting) 10k quite heavily! The vocal has this darker tone to it as a result.

When he uses headphones as mics how does he get the signal into pro tools? Are the headphones connected to tape machine which is attached to his apogee? Fire techniques in this video

Can someone explain how he has those Master Tracks routed? How is m1 (for example) getting any input when the instruments are routed to Bus 41-42. And why/how is m1 routed back into 41-42. Is there an advantage to that?
@nath71856 күн бұрын
m1 is a master fader track that is affecting everything going into the "MASTER IN 1" aux. you can see he's doing more processing on it, and padding the level by a couple of dB.
@eliaspappas88916 күн бұрын
@@nath7185 I see.. not a protools user so help me out, where does m1 get its inputs? I see that its output is going to MASTER IN 1, but how does it know which channels are actually going there? Thank you for the reply!
@nath71856 күн бұрын
@@eliaspappas8891 in protools, a master fader track doesn’t have a traditional input/output as other tracks do. you set which bus you want it to affect, and it will affect everything on that bus before it gets to “MASTER IN 1”. hope that makes sense.
