16.800 is a little bit too high. There were deductions, but they werent' made obvious. For example, chest down on standing full, lack of flexibility in her leaps and a slight lunge and step on her dismount. I found 0.6 deduction, which I think is reasonable, but 15.975 with this routine is simply ridiculous. Look at her EF beam set, not even half as good as this one and she factors in a 16.225? I don't understand the judging during these qualifications.

She was the true 2008 Olympic Gymnastics AA for me. She had the higher difficulty by a long shot on FX, VT and BB vs Nastia on UV only. I mean the announcer argued about it themselves that she was robbed. I mean her BB was low when her EF on BB was so high. Nastia clearly was overscored. I mean being beautliful and ballet like should be a factor. It must be skill, difficulty and execution. And not being think and ballerina looks. Glad Biles changed this notion.

I totally agree. Shawn was the true Olympic AA champ. The judges discriminated against Shawn because of her body type. The bullshit deductions for her "lack of flexibility on her leaps" is a symptom of that. If you look at Nastia's leaps on beam, she sometimes did not hit 180, and also her Yang Bo lacked back arch, but the judges ignored all that because she's thin. 🙄

Absolutely INCORRECT. Nastia STUCK her vault cold, Shawn took a huge step forward and only barely- sort of- got the two and a half around. BOTH are significant deductions. On bars Nastia had more than a point SV advantage and really nailed the set- except the dismount. On beam Shawn DID have a couple of noticeable balance checks, Nastia did NOT- and that includes the dismount. On floor Shawn had a good floor set but again, there were a couple of deductible areas. Nastia had the routine of her life. Nastia won far and square and saying otherwise is just selfishness on the part of those who don’t think so.

you guys are underestimating the deductions she gets on her leaps they are much more severe. the judges could also take off for her impreciee tuck and pike shapes in the acrobatic elements

I see a lot of back and forth between Shawn and Nastia fans, particularly regarding their beam performances. I prefer Shawn, and I could never put my finger on why. Nastia's gymnastics is objectively more beautiful, but I think the reason I like Shawn is that what she does requires more precision. Nastia can finesse things with her softer movements and make even skills that are a bit off look like they were perfect...Shawn had to be perfect for them to look that way. In a lot of ways, Nastia's style is both smarter and more forgiving. I think I just personally appreciate Shawn's precision and dynamic presentation more. But I still love them both.

A lot of people forget that it is called artistic gymnastics. Shawn didn't have any wobbles, but she doesn't hit her splits and her choreo is really robotic. Not to mention the deep landings. It was a great routine and she deserved the score.

The problem was not the choreo @chrislindsey. The problem with Shawn's routine is that she's never been technically correct with her splits (and it becomes a problem on floor), and she took a step on the dismount. Her chest is not that low and if you compare it to Shannon Miller back in '96. She had some low ones and I'm a huge Miller fan.
