Exactly, a lot people are ruining hiphop for me personally. Everyone getting emotional over everything now and daze. This diss track doesn’t make Joey BadA$$ a hater. He is a competitor. Kendrick is my 3 favorite rapper of all time after Pac and Nas. But I’m not going to get emotional because he came at one of my favorite artists. Joey’s nice, used to be one of my favs but I feel like he lost his momentum musically. He was busy getting to bigger bags, I ain’t mad at it, but it comes with sacrifice, he can’t force himself into that GOAT of his generation convo. 1999 is a classic, all his albums are good, but, like Shawn said, he isn’t polarizing enough, he’s just really good.

Yeah Joey has always had a pretty big ego and I think that’s part of the reason he thought he could take such a big break from music early on in the first place. shawn explains why to me why i feel like this move is a little stiff. ive seen some theories about this being about tyler the creator but whether it is or not ill say this. this is clearly bait, i said this on twitter, but if you want to get a response from another rapper SAY THEIR NAME. stop subbing, take the gloves off. the reason kendrick is called the boogeyman is when someone says his name directly he responds back. none of the control responses stuck because as kendrick said "yall gotta try a little harder". if you really want to go this route then go all the way give him a reason to respond.
@onetwo88478 күн бұрын
It's definitely about Kendrick not Tyler lol. So many lines that link to Kendrick: "I got murals in my city, f a nomination This for every time they left me out the conversation" "It's clear who the heir apparent king of NY" "Too much West Coast lickin'" "This that black Airforce energy comin' out your speaker." "I'm out your reach, your arms too short to box the Elohim" "This ain't boom bap - this that boom-bow-bing" All clearly Kendrick shots. Not seen any clear Tyler shots

@@onetwo8847 apparently tyler was the one that sent shots with the maybach line in his hey now remix. im not too sure of the connection myself but i guess he is going for the whole west coast not just kendrick so it could still somewhat apply to both.

This what keeping Hip Hop competitive looks like. He’s not clout chasing, he’s addressing everyone broadly and trying to bring some energy to the East Coast after the West just had a crazy year. No shots just throwing his glove in the ring and seeing who wants to compete 🤷🏿♂️

@jacobaustin48127 күн бұрын
@@DJDarkStrokes I feel like words don’t matter when people like you choose their meaning based on your feelings. This is 100% clout chasing. He’s coming out of nowhere to diss the man on top for absolutely no reason, completely unprovoked, at a time when he knows mentioning Kendrick will get reaction channels to put him in the title and thumbnail. Mfer’s doing gymnastics to avoid the obvious fact that this is the literal definition of clout chasing. And don’t give me the “hip hop is competitive” line, two things can be true.

Love Joey, and I really like this song. What I’m hoping for more than anything is two things: 1) Joey puts out an album this year that really hits 2) Other NY rappers actually step up and answer to this and start doing shit Justin Hunt said that the NY isn’t back with this, but they have a champion now, and that’s where I’m at. I think there’s a chance that some shit really pops up because of this, but it’s not guaranteed and at most this is just a start to something that could be bigger

Kendrick has no reason to respond to Lupe, he’s been so blatantly jealous for years now. Cole and Drake had it coming because there was actual history of love and hate there, he said it on euphoria. I doubt Kendrick cares all that much about Lupe.

@maazwaseem83137 күн бұрын
@@Ismael-kc3ry that's what makes this whole situation low-key sad.....Lupe has been too much of a try-hard in trying to get Kendricks attention. He should have kept to the bars instead of going online to explain himself - bro you don't need to explain shit to Twitter or the interviewer. Tho I guess another thing is that Lupe just doesn't even come close to the level of engagement that Kendrick gets from both critics and listeners - he could drop SLR 4 and broil and flambe and grill Kendricks entire career like Bubba Gump shrimp....but people will still deem Kendrick the winner just because. Especially post-beef, Kendrick stans have become unbearable, and I love Kendrick. My opinion, but I think Lupe is one of the greatest lyricists to have ever touched a mic and I do think he's better than Kendrick in constructing verses and the like, whereas Kendrick is a superior songwriter and artist. And I genuinely do believe that Lupe could put out a diss track that could crush Kendrick if he really wanted to - remember what he did to Royce Da 5'9? Unlike the Drake vs Kendrick beef, it wouldn't be one-sided. But yeah, rn this is just a sad state of affairs....

@romaretaylor99533 күн бұрын
Not the same thing. Ross had personal issues with Drake (or so he thinks) and Game is just a bipolar weird guy. Joeys doing this for the sport to make the east side come with it this year cause we got too many talented people out here to just keep hidden, not to say fuck the west. That west coast dick licking line was from Jay z’s song 22 twos
@jamescarlisle40238 күн бұрын
definitely some direct allusions to the beef and indirect allusions to Kendrick, but nothing here really sounds like an actual diss. a challenge, maybe, but if it is one, it’s directed at the East Coast more than anything else. like “the West is having its moment, we need to step up and i’m gonna lead the charge.” this is not the direct, opening salvo that Like That was. it sounds more like someone who’s out for the respect that he deserves (and i can’t say he doesn’t, he’s incredibly talented). i know a lot of people want to see great MCs going at it, but this isn’t gonna be the track to start it. that said, if for any reason this thing escalates, Kendrick vs Joey would be a hell of a lot closer than the Drake beef was. Joey is respected by hip hop heads and doesn’t have the obvious character issues that Drake has. to be clear, he does NOT have the capacity to destroy Kendrick, but Joey would have a much better chance of surviving it with his respect intact.
