I think dissing (almost) all of these people over the years just meant he was waiting for even one of them to pop off. But they were all too scared to really come out until they got a little rebel coalition going. So even though a lot of nerds are talking like it's an epic marvel avengers moment it kinda just makes some of Drake's points for him. I think it's a decent strategy to have everyone coming against him at once but it still just reinforces that he's the big boss and none of them are enough on their own to 1 v 1.

They were sneak dissing him too, especially kendrick. There’s information drake knew about all these years, so if you go listen to some of his older songs he basically saw all of this coming. This diss shows me how little dirt Drake actually has on Kendrick. If I was Kendrick, I’d do a similar Pusha T type response and make it clear “I want all of the curses”. The terrifying thing about battling someone like Kendrick is how introspective & vulnerable he’s willing to be. All his albums, but especially MM&TBS show the depths he willing to go to in order to explore his humanity. When someone is used to doing that work & turns their lens on you it’s terrifying. The BBLs, friendships with minors, being pee’d on by TI’s friend, getting heartbroken by 22y/os, pornstar baby mother, general lack of maturity in his content, being apolitical, etc. There’s so much for Kendrick to explore & expose with a new perspective about Drake. “You’re short” & “I sell more albums than you.” Ain’t gonna get it done long-term.

There is definitely way more material to diss a guy like Drake than there is Kendrick. Just from moral high grounds and just in general. BUT at the end of the day Hip Hop doesn’t function like that. The things hip hop glorifies (money, women, status, etc.) are all things that drake is at the peak of. The only way Kendrick could kill Drake is by exposing something unknown to the public. none of these petty things you mentioned in the second paragraph will actually make an impact

In retrospect, Drake's decision to frame this as a 1 v 20 really bit him in the ass. If he had focussed on Kendrick throughout the entirety of Push Ups instead of going at other people who were frankly irrelevant to the beef, trying to play this "I'll take you all on" narrative, he could have gotten some more substantive bars in against Kendrick and Push Ups might have stood a chance against Euphoria.

I honestly think years from now ppl (including rappers) will look back and say “Cole was smart” He stayed true to himself despite the culture; that’s a real artist. While I MIGHT like Kendrick as an artist more, I can still see a world where he’s in the big 3 convo. One moment doesn’t diminish that.
