Shawnee, Oklahoma Tornado Damage 4/19/23 Drone Cinematic 4K

I've lived in Shawnee all my life, I watched the Oct 5th 1970 tornado hit Sequoyah school then hit the Carpenters house, my dad and I saw it hit a house in which a woman was killed. The night this one hit I was on my way to work, I was on Independence st. going west crossing Kennedy when I was hit by the tornado. My wife had just ask me to wait about 10 more minutes before going to work, but I said no it'll be fine. I need to listen to her more. I must say this video mad me cry.

I umpire baseball and softball out of the Duncan area. Did a 15u baseball tournament in Chickasha over this past weekend, in which a team called M-Pact, which is made up of mostly kids from Shawnee, played in it. Not only did the town and community suff we this devastating event, this team suffered the worst of the worst tragedies involving one of their players. And they came from last place after Saturday to wim their entire bracket. Talking with the HS baseball coach is how I found out the extent of the damage done. Had to come look it up. My point in all this is, y'all are a super strong community and family. Y'all will rebuild and be stronger than before.

Been living here 9 years and this was my first tornado. It was scary. Our roofing was torn off our home. Thank you for this.

WOW. I can imagine in some ways because My friend, her lil girl and I survived the EF5 that hit Limon, Colorado in 1995, IN her tub, in a mobile home! The damage we got was what chasers call Rear Flank Downforce winds! Didn't even know it arrived. No alarms til it hit 1 side of town. I am glad every day I am alive because that F5 did not kill us all! Limon is maybe the size of Shawnee or smaller. Prayers for all!!

I grew up in Shawnee so I know every square inch of that town. I played Firelake golf course Friday and went through the town afterwards to see the damage and it's pretty extensive. Glad nobody was in the high school basketball gym because it pretty much completely collapsed. If you live there sorry this happened and hang in there. It's just part of living in this state unfortunately.

I live in Shawnee Oklahoma our home was spared I'm thankful to God when the winds picked up I got in my closet and pray to God not to take our home or damage it will weaken stay here because we would have nowhere to go

Excellent aerial footage here. Sad to see some damage in town, but I know that they will rebuild strong. I'm glad that there were no immediate fatalities in the Shawnee area.

Seeing your home as a 16 year old nearly get destroyed while you watch it on a camera because you're somewhere else really screws with you.. but I'm more worried about my mom. She was absolutely terrified, she could just hear the heavy wind go through the house. She was home alone that night, I'm just glad that she and the house was safe. I hope whoever else was affected by this gets better, and if you're homeless because of this I am truly sorry for you.

Also, if you're a shawnee resident, im not sure if they're still doing this or not but they're handing out free food near some of the stores. Not sure where though or if it's even going on still. Once again, I hope anyone affected by this is okay. Please don't give up, everything will be okay. You're still alive right? That's a sign that you'll be okay.

I am not a scientist or doctor but I care and pray that all the information gathered by Meterologists out in the field and NWS gets alert systems with better timing. Builders watching these videos and visiting each place can get a better science of building in Tornado prone towns & states. Thanks for sharing.

There weren't many homes damaged from the actual tornado, they got wind damaged but he did show the actual tornado damage. I am from here and you sound like a horses ass.
