Flechettes, wicked ordinance, 1000's of tiny steel darts. My dad told me about those from his time in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne, C Troop 2/17th in 69'-70'. He said the Cobra pilots surprised a group of NVA in a pond and LITERALLY were nailing them to the rocks. He says he can still hear them yelling, "Flechettes! Flechettes!" as they flew in to re-arm.

A Fleshette round is a canister of little darts that look like miniature missiles. There is also red dyed powder that puffs up as the canister opens releasing the Fleshettes. This is so they can see where the round went and coverage it gave. Friend of mine used them in his tank at Khe Sanh, Vietnam. He had a tie clasp made of a fleshette. In Nam they called them beehive rounds. Because the canister was full of them. It's like a shotgun round for tanks but with fleshettes.
@peterruiz61173 ай бұрын
'Flechettes' are small steel darts...The drill through bad guys head to toe...Goes back to WW1. I read about shotguns in combat, and in VietNam, flechette rounds were tried. It was said they had no stopping power, but the vc shure bled out, eventually. I guess its better to saturate with them.
