I guess SM started to make digipacks as a replacement for the jewel cases, since digipacks are more eco-friendly. And I just realized since 2020 SM doesn't use foam CD holders anymore on their albums. They oftenly use paper holders or envelopes now. Maybe for cost efficiency reason or more eco-friendly.

and just recently they started using soy ink and recycled paper to print their albums which is so great... if only they weren't in the NFT business 😕
