Shay was a very interesting character. The game clearly explained that neither the Assassins nor the Templlars are evil, they have similar ideals but different ways of going about it, they both have good and bad qualities. The colonies Assassins games shown this very well, with Assassins creed 3 and Rogue. A good example is when Haythem and Connor are working together and Connor asks about the Templars intentions. Haythem explains how order is essential to keep peace and no violence, Connor however belives in the freedom for people, Haythem then goes on to critisize Connor ideals of freedom making good points about how it creates corrupt people who are power hungry, and overall order is lost. Meanwhile Connor critisizes Haythem by explaining Order of the British empire only creates the people to oppressed and essentially slaves. It's very interesting because both ideas have the positives and negatives, they both want the same goal... Peace. But in there efforts to achieve these goals, they go to war causing chaos. Assassins creed 3 was a fantastic game, shame we haven't got games similar to it.

The earthquake that Shay caused was a true event. 1st of November, 1755 in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, All Saints' Day. The city is litted with thousands of candles for the renowned ceremony. It is said that the earthquake could be felt around Europe and although it caused damage and major panic across Southern Portugal, Lisbon was the most affected: the entire city and outskirts were crushed, the candles that could be scene started multiple fires that spreaded throughout the entire city. Being a costal country and the epicenter in the Atlantic Ocean, the earthquake caused a tsunami that washed off the unsuspecting survivors, killing many more people in the process. It is estimated that around 30000 people (although expected to be a lot more) have died in these events and calculated that it was a 8.7 to 9 magnitude earthquake.

Though I love the game I never understood why Connor's relation to Haytham was treated so casually in AC3. It could've been a major plot point of discovery (kind of like in starwars) and instead was randomly stated toward the end of Connor's training montage. Learning later in Rogue how Haytham was instrumental to destroying the colonial Assassins and crippling Achilles makes this even more pronounced. Imagine Achilles learning that he had trained the son of the man who had taken everything from him, and Connor discovering that his final target was his own father. Instead Achilles seems entirely unphased by these details despite his character being defined by his trauma from the whole ordeal with the Templars, leading to him secluding himself and initially refusing to train Connor. It doesn't actually even make sense how either of the two could be aware of the relation at the time of Connor's training. Probably just another unfortunate result of AC3s rushed release.

I think achilles was aware, that's why he didn't let connor into the house in the beginning because of his loathing for haythem, and because the native tribe was friends with the assasins, it can backup the theory.

Rogue was a really underrated game, I mean it wasn't the best but it was the closest of the games set in the 13 colonies that allowed you to chill with Haytham as your wingman. I mean I just love Haytham as a character almost to the degree as Ezio simply because he was just that much more interesting than Conner. I mean Haytham is the guy that went against his order off screen between sequences in AC3 that aren't mentioned, by killing the Grandmaster of the British Templar branch with his sister's help and none being the wiser with him continuing to lead the Colonial Templars until his death. I mean come on the guy has that big dick energy just emanating from him like if he was a super saiyan. Oh and yeah Shay was a good character to explore the dynamics of this ancient war in the shadows to show that despite being affiliated with both groups he tried to do what was right. (Give or take killing all but one of the Colonial assassins and sorta helping the events in Unity proceed, albeit unknowingly) 😞

I feel like Achilles was an idiot in Rogue(obviously) and his idiocy carried thru in AC 3. So many of the things he told and spoke about to Connor seem not very Assassiny. Seems like he had a Vendetta. The part where he told Connor that haytham was a grown man with a lifetime of experience makes sense but anything post that in the game really made me question his sanity. Also Connor's dialogues while murdering Templars really made me question his motives and master (revenge against Lee and his gang was justified coz they basically burnt his village) but all the stuff about freedom, etc. I felt that the Templars had a point. (Rooftop convo with Haytham and Connor whilst chasing Benjamin Church {tasted of the forests' fruits line mission} ). Meanwhile, Shay feeling remorseful as he kills is what makes his character stand out. It reminded me of Ezio post killing Vieri. They cause war, they put puppets, they control people but in the name of peace. The assassins want freedom and think for themselves but at the cost of Murder. Seeing Connors Colonial Assassins rise back up, tells us the American rite Templars are extreme. From Shay’s time during the transition from assassin to Templar shows us, how arrogant & not understanding consequences they caused resulted in their demise. If you look into unity, Arno was immature but he also understood what needed to be done. The French during that time were cowards & let things bring into chaos. It would be hard to make another game where you play as a Templar considering 1. The direction the games have taken with rpg 2. The colonial templars were the only templars we know of with good ideals thanks to haytham 3. Most Templars don’t actually do anything haytham and Shay were the only ones that had hidden blades and went in on missions themselves

Did anyone notice that otso berg had the same tree pin on his coat as shay had on his belt on his assassin robes? Berg also has a similar head shape to shay. Unfortunately they are not the same person or even related, despite all the similarities. Would have been cool to find out that berg is actually shay

Ezio trilogy was best, but ubisoft did a very well done with the Kenway saga. The way they tell a story that seperated by generation through AC 3 and 4, and also how they justifiy the motives behind Connor and Haythem with AC Liberation and AC Rogue. And they even put an extra effort before clossing the story by making this saga was the reasoning for the nexy big event with AC Unity.

Actually need another Assassin's Creed game. Where you play as a Templar during the height of the actual Templar order. As if I'm being honest playing as a Templar during the Assassin's Creed Rogue was highly interesting. In fact if they were to ever officially come out with the Assassin's Creed online multiplayer game. We should have the decision to be an assassin or Templar. They grow so at the order of ancients. Really busy order of ancients in the temple order actually two different groups.

I’ve completed every game up to AC Rogue. I’m still at the start of Rogue. I’ve decided to explore every island that I can before continuing the store so I am busy doing that rn. So far I am enjoying the game. It’s kind of like AC3 but it is mostly like AC4. It has the homestead… I think…. I’ve been to it at the beginning but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to go back without redoing the mission.
