Basic history lessons for you, since you clearly need them: Shay was 20 years older than Connor, and his story was meant to coincide with the Seven Years War. He trains his son and grandson, and spent the rest of his life searching for more artifacts. He never betrayed the Templars. That history is set. Connor’s family was murdered by the Templars, and he hated them. He would never align with them. By the end of the American Revolution, Connor was Mentor of the Colonial Brotherhood. Arno is youngest of the three, Shay was likely dead by the end of Arno’s first story.

It's something Achilles never once mentioned when mentoring Connor, still blinded by that sense of justice. But then again, the politics between Assassins and Templars always being "Assassin allies turned Templars sooner or later" as indicated by how the Templars took control ever since WW1 and another purge was executed in 2000. Anakins skills, and multiple other things already put him above essentially every jedi in the order besides maybe Mace Windu, and Yoda. Anakin was taken from an older age, an age where he had already built emotions, had people he loved, knew, and cared about unlike essentially every jedi in the order which is why they were hesitant on bringing him in to begin with. Well because he was one of the few who had heavy emotions Palpatine took advantage of that to manipulate him, after Anakins mother died it became even easier to do so since now he was essentially willing to do whatever he needed to do to to keep the last of his loved ones alive thst being Padame, and maybe Obi-Wan prior to there battle. From his eyes the jedi essentially pushed him to the point where he had nowhere else to go but Palpatine since they were denying him the rank of master which restricted access to the restricted section, so he wasn't able to try to learn the information he wanted which is the reason he saved Palpatine since he mentioned he could teachhim to save the ones he loved. Anakin felt heavy emotions, and was completely broken during, and after he massacred the jedi temple, he showed sadness , and likely regret since he judt threw away his past life leading to Padme, and Obi-wan showing up, and disagreeing with what went on (reasonably so) leading Anakin to believe that Obi-Wan and Padme the main people he cared about had betrayed him, breaking him even more, which is what led to him to losing to Obi-wan, leading him to lose both of the people he cared about in the end essentially making his only reason to continue living is to serve Palpatine l.

In the end. Shay was right. Achilles had no idea what he was playing with, and refused to listen. Only until it was in his grasp did he consider Shay’s warning. But it was to late. Achilles got was he deserved for what he had done, but Shay stayed Haytham’s blade and showed mercy. It was only when Shay went to France did he become a monster

If he is a monster, he’s a monster of the Assassins’ own making. This is why Rogue is still one of my all time favorite games in the series because it shows that the Templars aren’t always the bad guys the Assassins make them out to be, and that the roles between the two can actually shift on occasion to where the Templars actually have to be the ones to stop the Assassins from doing something that will result in countless deaths.

I love Crossovers like this as you meet Adewale when he's a slave then he becomes your best friend and quartermaster, then you play as him as he frees his brothers and sisters and fights slavery, then Shay kills him. Its the perfect circle of life instance. It must also be really hard for Shay as hes fighting to stop the death of thousands of innocence but he does respect Adewale. Had Achilies stopped and listened perhaps Shay wouldn't have bwtrayed them but Achilies grief and anger was the downfall of the Assassin's and allxthe othwrs were simply blind followers never questioning him.

Arno would have been 8. In those 15 years it would be more realistic for conner to go after shay and shay would mostly likely retired by 60 and conner would have been 35 and arno would have just turned 23 which is when he started his assassin journey

Well let's look at this logically in truth they didn't know what it was they were messing with. If you listen to the conversation where adewale visits achilles. They talk about the haiti earthquake which happened just a year before lisbon. And it was the templars that got to the weapon 1st all the wall day. Just barely got there and all the sudden. Started to shake.... He saw a few of the temples escaping on a ship with a manual script. But the one templar that activated not escape the tomb alive so the truth for the templars to discover about what happened in haiti and mackindall. Never reached the templars until shay They even state that they're not sure what it was it was some type of weapon perhaps. Or something more. Adewale describes it if you listen in the bushes by the house. Thousands were lost and I'm not sure why. Until shay Witnessed what happened with the root . Eden tree. Fact the Box that they use. It's actually in Odyssey. In the Fate of Atlantis Dlc As well as the shroud of eden.

Shay is literally the good guy here. Not even just a protagonist, but a Templar who saw the dark side of the Assassins and said "They had no qualms about a city being destroyed, i think I'm gonna switch sides". He wasn't tortured or coerced or bribed or brainwashed, he was a good man doing what he thought was right. Not a fan of how the conflict went from "Chaotic Good murderers vs Lawful Good order seekers" to "Race to get the macguffins"

I think the problem is that in Shay's time period the assassins had become corrupt. They murdered innocent people. Achilles was a blind leader. No other assassins agreed because they were also Blind. This game wasn't to show that the assassins were always wrong. It just shows that they could become corrupt just like the Templars.

I get that Achilles was wrong and assassins blindly followed him but never in the game are Templars shown to be doing tje right thing, at best they can be said neutral since their plans for the manuscript are not revealed. Monroe was just used as a good face to get Shay to their side.

I like rogue as a game, and I think Shay is a great protagonist, my problem was that they made the assassins way too dumb and made them act borderline evil at times. I get Ubisoft wanted to give the ps3 and 360 generation one last game but rogue would’ve benefited from a longer development time to iron out some of the flaws

I feel Shay is the only one amongst all the Assassins and Templars who cares for the people and fights for everyone. And not some personal vendetta against any particular faction.
