Shaykh Ibn Baaz cries while speaking about the Meelaad-unNabi Celebrations

Shaykh Abdul-Azeez Ibn Baaz Rahimahullah cries while talking about the celebrations of the Birthday of our Prophet, explaining that there is no reason for warning from it except that it has no basis from the Quran and Sunnah, but it doesn't prove that we don't love our prophet... Rather, he is more beloved to us than every thing in this world, including our own selves !!

^ WRONG quote. Ibn Taymiyyah said it is a Bid`ah (heresy). You're cutting, pasting and mutilating that quote from Shaykh al-Islaam. He said in his full statement that they will *not* be rewarded for doing the Bid`ah, but perhaps, maybe because of their good intention, their sincere desire to show love for the Prophet, peace be on him, they would be rewarded. And he said clearly, not (rewarded) for the Bid`ah (the innovated celebration), but for the intent. He was firm in saying it is baseless.

First the Fatwaa as the brother pointed out is misquoted and even if he said this then he Rahimahullah should have explained where did Prophet SallahuAlhiwassalam order it?If there is a daleel then let us know that who amongst the Sahaba celebrated Mawlid?

This is Imam Ibn Taymiyya's opinion about Mawlid from: "the Collected Fatwas," ("Majma' Fatawi Ibn Taymiyya,") Vol. 23, p. 163: "To celebrate and to honor the birth of the Prophet (s) and to take it as an honored season, as some of the people are doing, is good and in it there is a great reward, because of their good intentions in honoring the Prophet (s)."

It is very rare that a leader will ask his followers to celebrate his birth day? Did our grand father or father ever asked us to celebrate his birth day? It is the children or the grand children who show a lot of enthusiasm and make arrangements for the birth days of their father/mother or Grand parents. However, the parents or grand parents feel happy when their children or grand children show love and care for them. Celebration of one's birthday is just a show of care, love.
