Hello Shawn, thanks for demonstration, though I have one qustion. We bough AS2001 SC just recently, but I am still wondering, how to sharpen really small skates (like for children) which have small blade. Because using the three dots method does not make it, the wheel just go too much distance. I mean how to deal with really small skates ? We do it manually, I just press the wheel down with my hand when I do not want some part of blade to be sharpened and then just leave it go up and do the sharpening. But it seems very unprofessional , not to mention that I usually do not "hit" the same spot every cycle. Any ideas how to sharpen smaller skates ? thanks a lot !!!

Hello Marek Just for sharpening really small skates you can do it in two ways; 1. Choose how many cycles by pushing the "Sharp"-button and the machine can be programmed to perform the needed cycles. You set the sledge travel between the dots by pushing the "Profile"-button. 2. You can also turn the sledge manually by pushing the "Sharp"-button during a cycle. But we do not understand why you would hold down the wheel and don´t sharpen on some spots of the blades? The clamp steels are 12,5cm long and the total length of the travel on the third dots is 17 cm.

How long does it take to profile a pair of blades?

When marking goal steel, do you just mark a size 7 for example on the 263 marking, and so on so the markings are congruent with where you'd mark player steels?
@ProsharpWorld6 жыл бұрын
Yes, mark the goalie steels the same as player steels.

If I use a 3,9mm wide blade, which should my setting be on the bottom right knob? 3,9? someone instructed me 3,0 but never gave me a reason behind it. Does that width knob need to be dialed in just for a regular sharpening?
@ProsharpWorld5 жыл бұрын
On the AS 2001 ALLPRO-SC there's no need to set the scale knob as long as you don't switch to the 8 mm grinding wheel for double profiling. On the old AS 2001 ALLPRO you need to set the scale knob to what blade thickness the blade has before sharpening and profiling. Additional information; you always dress the wheel with the setting 3.0. It seems like you have the old AS 2001 ALLPRO and then you would dress on the 3.0-setting and set the knob to 3.9 when sharpening/profiling.

Prosharp thank you so much for that reply!!! I'm trying to learn (everything) skate-sharpening mostly cause I need it done right. I'm picky. Another question; how do I get the grind on my toes and heels?
@ProsharpWorld5 жыл бұрын
@@magictooth2 The machines goes high enough up and avoids rounding off the heel/toe. You shouldn´t grind off the steel that high, it could lead to a banana shaped steel. You can concentrate the sharpening to a specific area by pushing the "Sharpen"-button, when you push that button the skate holder will turn and move in the other direction. This is a technique that you could use if you want to blend in the toe better. You should never blend in the heel, it gives the skater stability.

@@ProsharpWorld Yeah, I don't want that. I play goalie so I need an edge on my heel & toe though. When I used the button for 3 runs over the blade, I ended up with a slipperly heel, it didn't blend as you said, the wheel stopped making contact about 5mm too early, but I can press "Sharpen" and it will go back without moving the grinding stone? Sorry about all the questions.. Really trying to make sense of all of this.. and there's so many knobs and buttons.. haha

@@magictooth2 No worries :) You can make the skate holder change direction by pushing the "Sharpen"-button. Making it possible to concentrate the grinding to a specific area. There are other ways to do this as well. Where are you located?
