I hope that the backstory of Wonder Woman and the events surrounding Ares' killing of the gods are not forgotten or overlooked in other related works, such as the Shazam 2 movie. The concept of the daughters of the Atlas seeking revenge against Shazam and his family because they believe the wizard usurped the powers of the gods and gave it to children is an interesting storyline at least from how the trailer portrays it, but it does raise questions about the consistency of the mythology. In Wonderwoman Ares is traditionally portrayed as having killed all of the gods if you can believe that a mere god can kill not only all the gods but the king of the gods himself, which would seemingly contradict the premise of the daughters of the gods seeking revenge against Shazam and his family. I hope the movie will provide some explanation or twist that reconciles these seemingly conflicting elements, or it may simply be a creative liberty taken by the writers and the WonderWoman backstory is not used.

This really doesn't spoil anything for me. This will likely be a brief cameo that occurs at the end of all the action, not unlike the end of Black Adam(a character who should have been the nemesis of Shazam in this franchise) Or Lynda Carter in WW1984. This was a movie that was already complete and scheduled for release and does not mean that this version of WW will carry over into the DCU, though I wish she would. As for the cameo, this is a movie about the power of Greek and Roman gods. Of course, the living goddess who is Diana should be involved in some way. But I think it will go down like this: at the end of the movie Diana checks in to see what's up in Philadelphia, and Shazam, who is a teen, makes a flirtatious comment, and Diana gives her one-off line as she's walking away...end movie. It's formulary to what DCEU movies have been doing ever since Batman at the end of Suicide Squad. I hope Shazam makes the cross-over to the new line-up at some point, though Billy Batson is practically an adult, himself, by now. I don't mean to be an ageist, but the truth is some of the characters who are basically immortal, such as Superman, Wonder woman, and Aquaman eventually would need to be recast with actors who look the age of their characters. Even Christopher Reeve believed this which is why he quit making Superman movies. I like the Snyder movies, but in truth, they were not telling the comic book stories I read growing up. It is possible to tell a realistic superhero story and stay closer to the source material. As for the executive changes at DC and Warner Media, well Marvel Comic properties have changed hands so many times that Spiderman is Cannon under two distinct movie studios, as is now Prof X and Mr. Fantastic. It's nothing new.

Do people here understand how time works? Movies take a long time to get made. Gunn is letting a few big movies from the previous administration play before he starts his changes. They have cameos of the Trinity that hardly affect the movies at all. Then they're done. Effectively Cavill, Affleck, and Gadot are done with these characters.

Smart merchandising though. Boys are attracted to WW as the model of the perfect gf, and little girls genuinely look up to the character as a hero and role-model. So think of all the little kids, especially the girls, who now want to see this movie come hell or high water. This is a very family-friendly part of the franchise.
