Having had an accident causing me to be in a wheelchair. Go the full 36 inch doors I fought with my 32’s for awhile the redid my house to 36’s and was way way happier. Now’s the time to do this kind of stuff.

36" doors, trust me I've been around the therapy side of life many years I worked in therapy. Hope you never need them but you'll be glad if you do. Any hallways need to be wide to allow chair and self propelling. Looks wonderful. Make tubs and showers and toilet handicap also with grab bars and comfort height toilets. 😊

Hey Tim. Just wanted to let you know that ADA compliance requirements for a handicapped door is 36 inches. Other thought is the dishwasher and weather you are left or right-handed. May make a difference on which side of the sink will be best placement. Dishwasher always needs to go on the right-hand side for me.

Glad I could help. 😄 I know that door is an added expense to put a small gable over it but it will save you from having to strip on the porch or Jen beating you with a broom for bringing muck in the house. 😂 You have to decide if the savings out ways all the extra clean up down the road when you have animals and gardens. So glad you went with the tub combo in the master it makes way more sense. Don't know many guests who take a soak when visiting. High five to the milkman on the changes to the guest bath. Totally would have been my first choice too. Full disclosure the plans I sent Mel were when they were thinking of having a loft. Those plans totally changed. 😉 @C'mon you up next? I wanna put a little sparkle on the mountain. 😘

Agree totally with an entry/mudroom simply because of the shoes & boots and coats etc. I built a nice enclosed locker type storage w small bench to sit on. All storage drawers under it too. Just my opinion. I’d not want to take anything off on a covered patio like pouring rain or cold. Maybe if that door was elevated by a step above ground level and a utility sink like for mopping. I know it’s not that big but in the long run I would think it would be worth it. ✌🏼✌🏼❤️❤️. Love the whole layout.

Hi Tim, I love the plans for your barndominium. My only suggestion is for you to replace some of the interior doors with sliding barn doors. If you are concerned about enough wall space, I saw a split center single barn door option that took up only the doorway space. My suggestion isn’t to replace any of the exterior doors or “bedroom/ main room doors. But, maybe, replace some of the closet / laundry room doors so they aren’t all swinging into rooms. Just something to think about.

@@RidgeLife Tim, I still think you need a mud room, for all those weather conditions, changing boots and wet coats! You don’t want to take that into the main areas! We don’t have snow in the country town where I live but we have a lot of rain and that mud room is vital! Food for thought! I have a double garage with an internal door to the laundry/mud room. It’s good for security too. Food for thought.

I’m wondering if the laundry moisture is good for the pantry. It depends on what you’re storing there. Perhaps put a door on the laundry area for some separation. Or put stackable laundry in the guest bath, make the guest closet smaller.

I have had this, it only takes small loads and it took 1 1/2 hrs to do one load. It wouldn't handle things like comforters or more than 4 towels at a time. It took forever to do a load. Do not recommend it
@jacquelinewells7575
@jacquelinewells7575 3 ай бұрын
@@patriciamoore8758. Exactly what I’ve heard. If you have a few loads to do it’s gonna take all day to do. Plus the items you can’t do. So much nicer having both do one load can be drying while another is washing. Gets thing’s done so much quicker. Also my thought too was where the stove is. Is there not a concern for not having an exhaust fan above it. Just my thought I believe I would put the stove on the right in the middle of that long counter so I could put a nice exhaust above it and just have a nice big island in the middle with stools up to it for people to sit at. Just my opinion.

Tim go with the bigger doors for the house. Think about the size of the appliances and any furniture you want. You don’t want to find , buy and then discover that it won’t fit thru the doors. It’s easier to shrink an opening then to make it bigger once everything is built.

2 Comments on the master bath. Any bathroom without a window will struggle to vent properly, which means it will capture steam. air vents are made to pull air out but if you have a window they have better flow. #2 with a toilet next to an interior wall you have to worry about your standard plumbing issues with water damage if you drywall. If you move that bar out a little further toward the dinning room you could put your timber posts on each end of the bar. Love it all though and know it will be amazing.

I like the second half but would consider for the first half. Either flip master bathroom so bath etc is on outside for natural light and ventilation or move bath to second walk in and have walk ins either side of door on way in. Either way plumbing can still go through internal walls that I think you wanted. Master bed and lounge. Move outside door not Centre allow for option of wrap around lounge in corner and removing central lounge opening up more space and move bedroom door to other end. Make for easier access to bedroom. Be mindful of moisture in your walk ins and pantry with them both being in wet areas. You currently have no windows for ventilation or natural light shown. Just my thoughts.

In the guess bathroom think about putting the toilet and vanity on the same wall, and make the shower larger. If you have ever showered in a corner shower there is not much room.

Locket doors are a must for the two 4 x 7 closets. Too many opening doors in the master bathroom.

I would still put a door on the side for using the laundry room and being able to it as a side entry, putting a small overhang over the entry way won’t add much or deter from the look you’re going for. Easier to do it now instead of later if you realize you shoulda done it.

Where are you butchering your meat's You're having a garden, you'll need room to can, Dehydrated foods, freeze dry foods where are you storing your products. Safe room for storms and Other things. Or will that be part of your out buildings fir HARLEY, tools etc. Are you having a summer kitchen So many great ideas you have for your home. These are thoughts. Best

The only change I see is the door into the pantry, it should open against the refrigerator. It's going to interfere with your countertop. It's going to be open a lot because of the washer and dryer.

Suggestive comment pocket doors on your master Bath /bedroom and run your closet. Rods down the four foot way not to 7 foot. Because then you don't have to put a support plus you have room for like shoe rack. Or jewelry drawers, or what have you? That was the biggest changes I have seen was. I would highly recommend pocket doors. I would also on the same thoughts and plans. I have 32 inch stores in my house. And they are not big enough for wheelchairs and walkers. So I would recommend a 36 inch door and I speak from experience. Because I shattered my foot and had to be in a wheelchair for 3 months and on a walker for 3 months. I also recommend putting the toilet paper up a little bit higher on the wall. In case you do in that going into a wheelchair. That way, you're not falling on your head to pull the toilet paper off of a roller. Pocket doors will save so much floor space for you do just ahead
