Valerie is too fun a person to be suppressed by a cult. I’m SO HAPPY she’s free and I’m stunned by the bravery and courage required to escape. I don’t think I could have done it. I truly think I’d be too scared. This isn’t a joke. Her story is inspiring beyond words.

I was a SO member and I escaped too. It took a couple of weeks to put myself into a position where I could drive away unnoticed in the middle of the night. This included secretly packing up my belongings, making up a story of changing berthing (place to sleep) and unscrewing a light bulb to keep a hallway dark. I literally put my car in neutral to glide out of the parking lot as quietly as possible before starting it up and flying down the road. Luckily, I still had my private vehicle so I did not have to jump into a car trunk. Best decision of my life.

I always think about her story, it honestly brings me to tears! I can’t imagine being in that situation where you feel like you have to hide in a trunk to escape an abusive cult. I’ve escaped abuse but never a cult. Valerie is such a strong woman! So glad she’s safe and living life on her own terms. The Aftermath foundation is truly so amazing! Love you Leah ❤ can’t wait to see YOU be the one to destroy these motherfuckers!

Valerie told this story in such a compelling way and brought levity to the entire experience. Leah and Mike finding the humor in how she popped out of the trunk had me dying, it truly shows the absurdity of Scientology and the lengths these poor people have to go through to leave the "religion." Keep onward Leah and Mike, love watching you!

Leah’s comments to this video couldn’t be more truthful. This is no religion people….this is evil on earth hidden or not so hidden but still not believed as evil masquerading as good. The Christian Living Bible talks of this very thing and to not be fooled. Yet there are so many fooled and need to be shown the truth. I am thankful to Leah, Mike, the Headleys and other advocates and whistleblowers for not giving up the good fight that is worth it because it’s about saving lives. ❤

Watching this clip, for a second time, brings overwhelming emotions of joy and relief for Valerie, yet devastating emotions of fear and sadness for those who want out that have been imprisoned and left behind. Thank you Leah and Mike for exposing this Cult for what it is and for how it treats people. No institution should have barbed wire facing in! For all the brainwashed members, and all the broken families at the hands of this Cult, I pray that Law Enforcement wake up and do their job TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE! For all those controlled by the billions of dollars corporation hiding under the guise of a Church, I pray the politicians do their job and rescind their ruling of tax exemption. This Cult has hidden their dirty secrets far too long. Thank you again, Leah and Mike, for helping shed light on this dark travesty.

Don't forget some people weren't ever able to escape from anything because they weren't documented or capable. If the group was big or bigger than capable of being preceived the outsider would never possibly be able to come up with a thought process to conceive the actual connections from traumatized people. I'm glad you all are showing some of the people, but just remember some of the instances are now absolutely unrecognizable because they've reached for every possible escape and received no instance of support ...

@taureanwooley Жыл бұрын
@askquestionsplz it's a historical reference attempt. Trying to make sure people are still looking for and finding escape from their (edit)captors, whether it's scientology or any other group. There's laws created by many people agreeing not to create these types of events. It's sad that some people cannot recoup from trauma if the "organized thought"/bullying is too small to be recognized yet large enough to cause damage to their target/victim. That's how many bullies thrive within society without being detected, and how many more people are reluctant to slow the process down until there's many instead of just a few victims.

I was in an abusive relationship for several years and I know how mentally and emotionally exhausted it made me. Always on edge. Having to think 4, 5, 10 steps ahead every minute of every day. The day I escaped I played out every scenario in my head ahead of time. I knew he would call the cops on me to find me and bring me back to him. I had to make so many plans for "if this" happened or "if that" happened... It's crazy for me to even think about now but it was so natural to me then. I only had to escape ONE man. To think about having to deal with an entire cult... there are no words really. You are all so brave & so inspiring. I know speaking out isn't easy. Especially when you're doing it so publicly. If it helps even one person it's all worth it though. You're in my thoughts. Sending love and positive vibes ❤️

Wow when I think of the gut wrenching desperation that Valerie felt ,and how she didn't even consider that she could be jumping from the fire into the frying pan via a possible sexual deviant . To be that panicked for escape that all common sense goes out the window ,all I can say is living as a SEA org member must be shear Hell on earth . There's not defense the church can use to explain why this beautiful little petite girl would risk her life and personal safety to escape . There's no other reason than self preservation and a life if Liberty ,Peace and joy that can't be had in the web of that cult . Whether a worker or public it's all consuming fear factor quashes critical thinking on all levels . I'm hoping Valeries lawsuit goes to full success

Leah, it’s so nice to have you in the community. This is a really great place and I think if you asked people to put a one in the chat, if they were ever in a cult, a different cult you would find out there would be a lot of ones because you see many people were in cults, and for whatever reason they got out I did, but I was 15 when I got in and it was a drug abuse cult what you have to understand is Steven Hassan has fully diagnosed it a cult. Imagine your 15-year-old daughter is doing cocaine a gram a day. You would do anything to help her so my parents went to this place called Freeway in San Diego. It was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. I was there for seven years but I came in at 15 apart and I met a 30 year old counselor right away so guess what happened and guess who they blamed it on that’s right yours truly the 15 year old girl I could explain it but it’s really long. My point is that there are a lot of people that were in that cult however, it traveled around this country. It went from Texas to San Diego then to Tempe Arizona onto Denver, Colorado then to Georgia and several of the states in the south it’s read going on right now as we speak, a child is walking in there and I can’t do anything to stop it so there’s a lot of mise in here and I want to thank you
