Some say Debling is just used for jealousy trope. First I find this time i'the jealousy trope is played differently. Often when we see the jealousy trope from the man, there is much anger. (With jealous woman from the main lead is more sadness and from side character being mean and a bully to the FL). The jealous show often anger to the person he love and the person who is around his lover but here we see him more yearning for her than hating on Debling. (Don't said he don't at all). I think Debling is a way to show Pen she can be desirable, a way to let down all her hopes for Colin love and find some sort of freedom. He's not a way for Colin to discover he love Pen, that started before he's involved. But he still activated the fear to lose her.

First, john stirling is one of the most handsome men on this show. He and francesca look good together and are perfect together. Second: love the polin moments and can’t get over their chemistry and Colin pining for her every time he sees her. Third: love the gag when Bendetict and Colin are next to each other, Colin gives him a nod to go away when he wants to talk to Penelope. It happens more than we think and I believe Bendetict knows these two love each other as more than friends. Fourth: i can’t get over how horny these Bridgerton siblings get when watching their love interests eat. Like my god! Fifth: i love how Penelope and Colin’s love story mirrors Violet and Edmund’s relationship because of the friendship to lovers aspect. Lastly, I like how there is a maturity to why Marcus seeks out Violet. They are similar and I feel he wants someone he can love or have fondness for. And it makes it more exciting than Violet just wanting to have sex with someone. She deserves it all.

I think lord Debling knew Colin was into her, by the look he gave him. If Colin was just a friend and wanted her to find happiness with someone else, he wouldn't be hanging around her at balls and other events and be constantly staring after Debling started pursuing her and LW made their lessons public knowledge. Sadly their friendship would end in adulthood because it would look suspicious to society and their respective partners even if there's no romantic feelings, Colin is slowly realizing that.
