My mum's side of the family is Italian, so when I first saw we were getting a fighter called "Marisa" - which is MY MOTHER'S NAME, holy bicuits - I was super excited. And now, seeing her in action, seeing the way her gameplay is, the fluidity and power behind her fighting style... OH MY GOODNESS, this makes me proud of the Italian representation we're seeing in this game. So, I was the "Morrigan" Manon that had the one bar wifi and across the planet (Australia, specifically)... Connection with this netcode is unbelievably cursed good that on my end, it was still normal! Didn't lose any inputs or anything... and obviously didn't have much playtime with Manon! So it was basically testing the most extreme of extremes (also mainly because where I'm at, there's no ethernet port anywhere)

I have never played a fighting game before but Marisa has gotten me into it. The most I've managed to do so far is a little punish-countering thanks to drive impact, but it feels good! I never thought I'd be able to really do fighting game inputs, but I can somewhat reliably do fireball motions now. Still have no idea how I'm supposed to cancel into drive rush or super, but it feels good to be learning, and landing heavy Gladius or Decius is a drug.

The idea of a muscular woman is apparently such a foreign and intimidating concept to these people that it's easier to for them to pretend she's male to ease their bruised egos. I've been glued to Marisa since launch. She steals rounds like crazy. Cammy's cool factor is off the charts though, so I'll be picking her up as my secondary, probably. Regarding Marisa's lack of mobility: you can use her superman punch and/or her bigfoot kick to close the distance surprisingly quickly. I find that people get caught off-guard by the kick all the time.

AFAICT, Zangief still has stronger command-grabs, but Marisa has stronger (chargeable) strikes. It looks like that would make Marisa's optimum range slightly longer than Zangief's - she seems to hit hardest when she has a bit of distance and time to charge an attack. Marisa _can_ still grapple, but she's more of a "brawler" type overall.

Ive noticed one of the best options as a marisa to try and interrupt a kim is to use her forward super (the one that has her put both hands in front of her and when hit will have her push forward and interrupt any movement or combos. But thats pretty much it. It also makes a good anti-air as it immediately knocks them out of the sky on hit.
