I am really impressed that your MOM knows how to use "patis" (fish sauce) with her cooking. Even in Thailand, they hardly use salt, but instead fish sauce or soy sauce. I have never tasted this dish. I never heard of it, must be new. Does your Mom know how to make Filipino macaroni salad with shredded chicken and crushed pineapple? That is something the kids will like. Try it! Yes, Tanya can be mistaken as a "mistisa Filipina". There are a lot of Filipina that are Spanish looking because of the colonization for over 300 years. I went on KZbin to check on this dish and saw that a whole cut up chicken looks good too. Remember, the chicken bones makes the dishes taste better. Sometimes chicken breast by itself is too dry. Any vegetables can grow in the Philippines. We only give anyone who like to learn to cook Filipino food great advice. We want you to continue to be a great cooks. We do our market everyday. Filipino don't believe in freezing food. Always wants FRESH catch of the day.

Try to go Baguio. Its a good place and you can see variety of fresh vegetables like brocolli, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, baby potato, strawberry , lettuce and many more. Those vegetables were harvested there. The temperature there is cold unlike the other parts of Luzon that is hot.
@chebtremb2244
@chebtremb2244 3 ай бұрын
They already have abundant of these vegetables in their country, probably better too as those usually grow in cold climate. It’s better for them to try more fresh seafoods, fish as these you can only buy frozen, if there’s fresh it usually cost an arm and leg. Also enjoy the beaches, the water in Philippines is warm.

@@chebtremb2244 True, that. Also, they're going to Samal. Davao has veggies and such too. Dunno if they grow the same ones in Luzon, but i think they do. Just gotta know where 🤔

Yes Baguio is nice , but Russian have almost 9 months cold, autumn 3 mos. winter 3 mos. and spring for 3 mos. so they are going abroad for sunshine. they love beaches. Summer in Russia you can see a lot of people sunbathing in two piece near a lake or a pond.
@chebtremb2244
@chebtremb2244 3 ай бұрын
@@perlypadua1535 lol there are only 12 months in a year. Russian winter is long, they probably only have 2 months of spring/summer/fall all together. Basically 2 months with more sunshine, the rest of the year is just dark and gloomy.

Filipinos are very competetive when it comes in cooking dishes.if you try to visit some part of the region you'll experience different version of what is known here..every household have their own version of adobo,sinigang,paksiw etc..Filipino taste buds are very sensitive.we inherit it from our forfathers passes to every generation.we always consult everything to the old ones..if have your time i suggest you plan to visit iloilo,manila, bicol,pampanga,baguio and ilocos region..Godbless to your Family!❤

Pampanga province is the culinary of the Philippines. They have all that recipes it’s influenced by Spain. One of the reasons you never taste that in Samal island is because their specialties are seafoods. And if you travel Cebu the cuisine’s is also influenced by Spaniard like balbacua is a beef mix with Chinese influence. We do have the oldest China town in Binondo Manila. Perhaps 2 hrs away is Pampanga Province. Try also Tagaytay City if your in Luzon their specialties is Bulalo it’s a beef shank consommé it boil in whole onion, head of garlic, peppercorn, fish sauce boil the meat till tender it’s really good if you add bone marrow. Add corn, potatoes, cabbage, or any vegetables you love. Then serve it with rice the Filipino always deep the vegetables in fish sauce,calamansi & spicy chili or cayenne pepper powder. I’m kapangpangan-Ilocano when I cooked chicken pineapple & we call it chicken pastel. I marinate the the whole chicken pieces in pineapple juice 3hrs. I fried all the vegetables 1st like potatoes,carrots,red bell peppers cut it in quarter. Then set it aside. Sauté the garlic a bit brown then add the onion, fish sauce. Add the chicken cook till no longer pink add more pineapple juice to your liking. Add coconut cream & cream bring to a boil then lower the heat & cover. Cook till the chicken is tender add the fried vegetables last taste it & add salt & pepper to taste.

We raised goats instead of lamb. We have plenty of potatoes, but Filipinos like RICE better. Potatoes are normally eaten with different dishes, but not like Russians or Americans, they eat potatoes rather than rice. We have more variety of soup than the Americans or Russians. Next time, Andrei tell Mom or Liza to cook sinigang or tinola. Use pork short ribs for sinigang. It's soooo good with cabbage and spinach. Make sure you ALWAYS add your vegetables at the end. I noticed that Mom and Liza will always add the vegetables too soon. Cook the meat first until tender, then add your vegetables at the end so it stay firm and mushy. Also, when tell Mom and Liza, when you are heat your oil, always start with the garlic first until golden (low heat), then add the onion. You want the aroma of fried garlic on your food. Just an advice.

You stayed most of your time in the south or in the Visayan islands. Sometimes our food are regional, you will not find them in the south but they would have it in the northern part of the country. Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao have different recipes often times. Just in case its the same food, there will be some changes in how to cook it or with the ingredients. In the north, like Ilocos province the food could be more salty because of the bagoong (local anchovies). In the Bicol area, they're more into coconut milk or gata and their food are more spicy, etc.
