Love this story, I’m 17 and this really struck a chord with me - I always relearn this lesson because time and time again I realize the people I envy have issues themselves too. I tend to put these people on a pedestal, so I like seeing those moments where I realize they’re human as well (like the party moment). Girl I 100 percent understand this. I was dating a guy and him, me and my mom went to a store once and there was a very beautiful girl there in the store and my man at the time just had his eyes glued to her. I needed to hear this story in a time where I’m feeling very insecure about a personal trainer that’s works with my fiancé. This is how I constantly felt in my 5 year relationship. What made it worse is he would always write about the women from his past, I didn’t find out about it until a yr into the relationship, but my naive self still stayed. For years I would compare myself to my exs exs bc I wanted to understand why he was still caught up on them when he had me. It was to the point where I would stalk the pages to get an idea of their personality, sense of style etc (Ik pathetic) I wanted anything that would indicate why I wasn’t enough. I was probably more obsessed with them then he was lol. At the time I loved him enough to pretend it never bothered me,so I never communicated how I felt until the very end of the relationship. The feeling of never being good enough was just too much and I realized it wasn’t worth it so I called it quits. Yea it took me years but I feel free. Thanks for sharing, honestly I still feel a little pathetic for what I use to do out of insecurity, but this makes me feel less alone.

Loved this storytime. I really needed this 2 years ago. Dated this guy briefly who had an on/off girlfriend back home that I knew nothing about at the time. Out of nowhere, he became emotionally abusive towards me and even once laughed at the idea of me being his girlfriend. I found out about the other girl when he was at home in NYC for winter break having the time of his life, meanwhile I was stuck in a midwest college town literally enduring the lowest point of my life. Finding out the truth about him surfaced so many insecurities in me and I compared myself to his girlfriend constantly. I’ve finally been able to make peace with the situation, and I can honestly say that I feel like I have been woken up from an emotional nightmare.

I know that feeling! It was so strange- I’m pretty secure in myself and I typically make friends easily. I don’t usually assume that people don’t like me & I usually “feel” pretty (not in a boastful way- just in a “know my worth” secure way). But just last year, there was a conference I was attending and there was a husband & wife sitting at the table with me. Both the wife and husband were gorgeous, model-worthy people. They were a little snobby, but that usually doesn’t bother me. But this time… I felt very self conscious & timid. It wasn’t because they were both attractive- it was something else… I can’t put my finger on what though. But I felt so insecure only when I was around them… the whole conference, even after getting to know them better. I hadn’t felt like that since high school *shudder*

This is so relatable I was so skinny in high school. Literally 100 pounds. I still am small at 19. I was already self conscious and then the guys would also tell me I was too skinny and compare me to the thicker girls. Now I am in love with my body .
