It’s just a common thing for some LGBT+ couples. Seeing as some couples are same sex, it raises the question of who should propose, so couples tend to both propose. It’s not a necessity, it’s just something both people usually *want* to do for their partner as a display of “yes, I DO want to spend the rest of my life with you”; to show you’re both in it equally.
